Day 67/365: 2015
The weekly theme is selective colouring.
I took the parasol out with me in the hope of finding somewhere interesting to photograph it but ended up with this fence. Not sure I'll manage to keep the theme up as I now have RSI from re-colouring! ;) It's quite time consuming too, a great theme though so I'll do my best.
Oh dear, I have just realised that to fit the theme the selective colour was meant to be done in camera, sorry!

For Smile on Saturday theme “Selective Multicolour.” Patsy is wearing a dress I made for her from Mary Englebreit fabric.
One thing about urban parks is that people will feed the animals. For good or bad, they will put out a feast of offerings. I have seen seeds, nuts, suet, bread, mealworms, doughnuts, roast chicken carcasses, vegetables, and a myriad of other items laid before the feet of the parks' inhabitants.
It is then that you might see some interesting behaviours and interactions between species, much like a 90% off sale at a popular store! Red squirrels can bring a lot of humour to the mix. They display selective focus in a big way. One moment chasing off the birds and gorging themselves. A bit later they may just sit and chill as the birds steal in to grab a morsel. They will leave the food pile unattended for long periods to go groom themselves or perhaps have a nap. Then they dash back, all offended that the birds are back. Very humourous.
In this image, the squirrel has perched on the tall, pointy part of a snag after chasing away a bird. As it leaned forward, I grabbed a shot. With the narrow plane of focus I had set on the camera, only the eyes are in sharp focus. Very selective. If reminds me of some people portraits I've seen where the photographer uses the same technique.
