Having arrived early at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey on 24th June for the New York Red Bulls match against Real Salt Lake, I found myself drawn to these empty seats for an exercise in selective focus. And the red and yellow of the Red Bulls logo proved irresistible to try a black and white conversion, bringing the colours out, while subduing the blue seats in the background.

Not sure if I'm completely sold on this selective colour version, but once I started I had come too far to turn back!
Selective colouring done in Photoshop CS4 using my Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet (can't live without that thing now!!) with a channel mask to make basic mask which was then refined using the brush & dodge tools.
This is a selective focus shot of books in a shelf, with only a select few in crisp focus. Aside from selective focus there aren't many other composition techniques. Lower aperture allowed me to get a small depth of field I needed to get the right subject in focus. Its short depth of view helps intensify the mystery of the photo, turning a simple bookshelf in a library into a dramatic shot of books.
Yeah, again my silly DoF experiment with whatever i found. Today i found Mr. Ralph playing he Keyboard at the GRT Hotel where we went for lunch. It was arvind's birthday treat. I found the Keyboard keys to be an interesting subject for DoF. This one has the DoF on the C Chord.

I have picked out the colorful parts on this otherwise black MiG-17 "Fresco."
Not quite black and white, not quite color. Somewhere in between nothing and everything.
To the naked eye, someone might not even notice that I did selective coloring on just the buttons. This one goes slightly against my theory that you shouldn't color select part of a picture that isn't completely in focus as I think it distracts the eye.
This was the deal that we got from our resort people on our honeymoon in Maldives. The Champagne was pathetic but the fruits were amazingly delicious. Specially the Kiwi Fruit! (For the curious ones, I used selective coloring by masking the selection)
Shot in raw, and processed using Adobe Lightroom. Used the HSL / Color /Grayscale panel in Develop mode to turn off saturation for yellow orange and green in the picture. Upped the clarity and vibrance slightly to make the red pop a bit more.

The event involved a short drag performance, free food, and a variety of educational booths to raise public awareness of LGBT needs and culture.
Some plants in my Great Aunts garden, most things were dead with just a little colour about so this seemed appropriate..
Decided to get a bit selective on color because I noticed the bright neon orange that stood out most from everything else.
