Rain and wind cause erosion in Death Valley and vicinity, but the process of erosion is not uniform. Rock and soil composition, elevation, and exposure all influence patterns of erosion.

I am taking a 6-week Summer Photography Workshop. Monday was our first class and I can't believe the things I learned, I am so going to love this workshop. We were given a list for a scavenger hunt and these are a few shots from the list with more to come.

Some plants in my Great Aunts garden, most things were dead with just a little colour about so this seemed appropriate..

Having arrived early at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey on 24th June for the New York Red Bulls match against Real Salt Lake, I found myself drawn to these empty seats for an exercise in selective focus. And the red and yellow of the Red Bulls logo proved irresistible to try a black and white conversion, bringing the colours out, while subduing the blue seats in the background.
This photo was shot with macro focus. I like the crushed, darker tones and texture of vertical metal stripes.

Not sure if I'm completely sold on this selective colour version, but once I started I had come too far to turn back!
Selective colouring done in Photoshop CS4 using my Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet (can't live without that thing now!!) with a channel mask to make basic mask which was then refined using the brush & dodge tools.
