I'm into gardening too.

This photo is already out of date. Tomato seedlings with a plate from Compton and Dry's 1875 _Pictorial St. Louis_ as a backdrop.

I found this seedling growing in our closed compost bin, it was pale and in desperate need of some light, it's doing a lot better since being planted in a pot and left outdoors for a week. I have no idea what plant it could be, my guess is water melon!

With my new lens I can't resist opening that huge aperture right up, hence the narrow depth of focus again. pretty much only the top edge of the top leaf is sharp.

These are Kris' seedlings for 2009. Actually, the far container holds our winter herb garden. the near container has tomatoes, which are already getting big.

A seedling of a rambutan. It took about a month to germinate into this size. This is not the only seed I planted, but this is the only one that survive being not eaten by the snails and slugs. I transplanted this seedling into a tall pot to hopefully keep out of the snails or slugs.

Current Note: It dried up and died.

Young sappling plants

I've been growing these in the window for about a month. Various wildflowers and sweet pea and things like that. Very excited to put them in pots and in the ground soon!

Lots of progress since yesterday.

squirrels plant nuts in various places, flower pots for one. So, walnuts, filberts and various other plants spring up unexpectedly. There are mature walnut trees in the neighborhood and squirrels pick nuts and save them.. I pulled this walnut starting to grow from a flower pot. We have to be constantly vigilant for seedling growth in our gardens, with birds dropping seeds and various other critters dragging bits of roots and fruits, there are always many things springing up. One such plant is a native variety of Bay tree, there are always seedlings of it growing when pulled out, they smell so good. I hear its leaves can be put into food, walking the neighborhood I noticed a huge tree, and there it was in its mature form. Photos may appear here in the near future...

please see large :)

They are small, and happy.

Young seedling plants

The eggplant and sweet pepper seedlings are doing well. Shira transplanted them into pots with proper soil so they'll have more room and nutrients to grow with, but some safety from the cats and squirrels, who take exposed soil as an invitation to do some digging.
