In Japanese, "arata" means "new"!
The segments of this bracelet are crafted from Japanese glass seed beads with a needle and thread, one bead at a time, using a handweaving technique called "peyote stitch". The beadcaps and clasp are sterling silver.
Measurements: 7.75"/19.7 cm
Tiny seed beads - part of what I have been using in a beading project. These are SO fiddly and difficult to manage!
Just finished this rosette in size 11 seed beads, with a bezeled Swarovski rivoli in the center. The pattern is from Sharon Bateman's book "Morning Rose." The stubby-looking point on the upper right isn't stubby in real life. Square-stitched, backed with ultrasuede. I might try it in size 15s next.
A carved wood jaguar head is covered with wax and then impressed with glass seed beads. Made by an unknown Huichol artist. The wooden head was probably made in a coastal Mixtec town in Oaxaca
Second entry for Bead Dreams (and also didn't get there). I just love lichens - all forms and colours. Idea was a clean design with vast variety of bead stitches and incorporate into it PC and Leather 3D elements. Made in several layers to overlap each structure - invasion after all!
The Etsy Beadweavers team challenge for the month of February has the theme: "The Ocean". This has tortured me very much (and I tried at least 10 different versions before finishing this necklace!) as here it's cold and snowy, and because I wanted to make (for the first time in my life) something simple. Obviously, it didn't come out very "simple"... Finally I gave up; I plunged into the waves of my imaginary ocean and I let it take me wherever it wanted.

Using recycled moss green linen, I added seed beads, vintage rhinestones, and cotton thread to create these floral themed pendants.
French beaded earrings in green, greasy yellow and silver toned size 11 and 15 seed beads with sterling silver earwires.
This is my most complicated bead embroidery project to date. It's also the first time I've experimented with colored copper wire -- an effect I love and can see myself repeating in the future.

The colors look like rainbow sherbet to me. This is a triple spiral with seeds and Swarovski bicones.
