380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron military working dog Liz completes a detection training scenario at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Jan. 10, 2017. Military working dogs complete weekly training to maintain the standards needed to protect military installations. “There’s always that chance that the only thing between you and an explosive is your dog and 26 feet of leash,” SSgt. Dakoda, 380 ESFS military working dog handler, said. “We rely on our dogs and have faith that they are going to do their job.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Tyler Woodward)

Day two was a little less crowded so I got a chance to speak to some of the exhibitors and I must admit that I met some really nice people, many of them from Sweden.

I also wish to take this opportunity to mention that the security staff from Northern Ireland did an excellent job and that they were very helpful.

A friend of mine asked why I loaded myself down with three cameras for the duration of the summit but today I discovered the value of having backup equipment as the autofocus on the Canon 1Ds failed and the Sony NEX-7 decided to go into auto-time mode with the result that I had to use the Sony VG10 as a stills camera.

Same airbase, same Cold War, different security mirror. After the Bentwaters Cold War Museum, this one seemed more friendly somehow.

This fake security camera provides all the deterence of a video security system at a fraction of the cost.

This 3 piece sensor activated security system features :

1. Buil-in Sensors detect intruders

2. Protects 3 seperate areas

3. Adjstable angle mounting brackets

- Place alarms inside or outside your house!

- Camera can be mounted indoors or outdoors.

- Camera features an adjustable angle and pans let and right.

- Alarm tilts in 4 different diretions

No time for photos today. Just this one very average shot of me on the security monitor entering the supermarket.

Another photo of a security guard :)

Congress’ Role in the Making and Execution of National Security Policy in the Trump Era

President Obama and the Republican Congress were usually at odds over national security policy. With a Republican in the White House now, will the President and Congress see eye to eye on threats and their solutions, or will differing institutional pressures and perspectives keep the respective ends of Pennsylvania Avenue apart? And, will the congressional investigations of Russia’s attempt to influence the presidential election end with a bang or a whimper? However the investigations conclude, what impact will they have on the relationship between the two branches?

Vans like this visit firms to process their documents. Typically, the shredding equipment is on board and the destruction of documents is witnessed and signed off before the van departs.

Security guard with illusions of grandeur at the BBC, Wood Lane.

I had to laugh the other day while sitting in the passenger seat of my friends car driving up Wood Lane to the A40. I was just randomly snapping out of the window as we crawled to the top of the road when I heard someone shouting. It was this security thicko at the barrier to the BBC buildings nearest the A40. He was trying to tell me I can't photograph the building. Well this just made me over exaggerate my finger movements on the shutter button and point the lens in his direction. He didn't like that one bit and was straight on his ikle walkie talkie reading the index from my friends car into it.

So if your on the public street going past here, why not point your camera at this security guard, he doesn't like it at him!

The TSA say's the limit on carry on fluids is really 3.4 oz (100mL) and any signage indicating otherwise is just old and out-of-date...the sign above is just a color photocopy and could easily be replaced if the TSA cared.

On location with another security company (ATX Protection/security- the grey car) in Austin,TX.

Sadly, they went out of business July 1st, 2010 according to a statement left on their website at the time. Picture was taken months prior to them closing their doors. Prior to ATX Protection, they were S.I. Group security a few years ago, and we wish them good luck and Gods Speed on their next venture.

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, visited the U.S.-Mexico border this week, ahead of possible Congressional action this year on border security.

McCaskill’s trip included:

Walking tour and Field Operations briefing at the Hidalgo Port of Entry

Air and marine operations overview followed by aerial and boat tour of border

Tour of the McAllen, Texas Centralized Processing Center

Tour of the McAllen, Texas Border Patrol Station

Briefings from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Border Patrol, and other officials on border security and counter narcotics operations

Nighttime border observation with the U.S. Border Patrol

Meeting with refugees and community leaders including McAllen Mayor Jim Darling

“Touring the border gave me a firsthand look at what’s really needed to further secure our border and keep our nation safe,” said McCaskill. “This is a complex issue and I look forward to working with Congress and the Department of Homeland Security to address the challenges we face. We know that whenever we have people illegally crossing our border, it’s a security threat. So we need to make sure our border patrol has the technology they need to target all undocumented immigration. Given that many of the people crossing our border are women and children fleeing violence in Central America, we’ve also got to go after the drug cartels and gang violence in their home countries so that these families and unaccompanied children are not making the dangerous journey to our southern border.”

McCaskill is a longtime advocate for strengthening border security. Her efforts in 2010 led to the placement of 1,000 new border patrol agents, new unmanned aerial vehicles, improved communication equipment and more to monitor the border without adding to the deficit. In 2012, her bipartisan bill to combat illegal underground border tunnels—cosponsored by Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona—passed unanimously in the Senate and was signed into law.

And bipartisan, comprehensive legislation to address the country’s broken system in 2013 that McCaskill supported passed the Senate with the support of conservative Republican Senators including Marco Rubio of Florida, John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona, and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. The bill was strongly supported by groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri Farm Bureau. The bill's border security provisions would have added 20,000 enforcement agents to the U.S.-Mexico border, while financing the construction of 700 miles of border fence and aerial drones to monitor the border. Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, who helped draft the border security provisions and who supported the overall bill, described the measures as “almost overkill.”

This was the security checkpoint for silver ticket holders. No metal detectors - just a typical TSA pat down... by TSA employees.

Fifteen New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa received their United States citizenship during a historic naturalization ceremony at the United States Embassy in Djibouti, Mar. 10. The Soldiers, all belonging to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are in the midst of a 9 month deployment to CJTF-HOA conducting security and crisis response operations, and are slated to return to the U.S. this summer. The ceremony is the first of its kind in the newly constructed U.S. Embassy, and is a historic event for CJTF-HOA, who has never before seen so many of its members become naturalized citizens at once. Maj. Gen. Jami Shawley, the CJTF-HOA commander, and the honorable Jonathan Pratt, the United States Ambassador to Djibouti, spoke at the ceremony and were among the first to congratulate the new citizens. This person, a security guard after I shot him, wanted me to delete a photo, there wouldn't be a problem except he was agresive and didn't asked - he demanded and after I informed him that I am allowed by law to make a photo of person in public space and even after the police informed him I was allowed to - he thretened me that as I drank few glasses of wine he would throw me in jail or sth. - therefore I make this photo public, so you can see this guy's face - never cross the photographer!

Making sure my quilt doesn't go anywhere after I've done my booth set-up.
