In late April, Wisconsin & Southern ran an extra move of empty tanks headed for storage on the out-of-service trackage near Kiel. The operating plan called for one crew to take the tanks from North Milwaukee to Plymouth, using a pair of SD40-2s. This crew would then take one of the units and work the Sheboygan Falls branch. Meanwhile, another crew, driven in from Horicon, would take the other SD40 and use it to drag all the storage cars (about 200 of them!) up to the Kiel Marsh. The out-of-service line north out of Plymouth has quite a steep grade coming out of town, which proved quite a challenge for the lone SD and its looong string of empties. After stalling on the hill twice, the third time was the charm, and the move clawed its way extremely slowly uphill towards Kiel.
Here, the crew tries a second time to surmount the grade, which, as can be seen here, really begins south of Plymouth proper and continues through the town.

Sorrento is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. A popular tourist destination due to its variety of small antique shops and location on the Amalfi Coast, it can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii as it is at the south-eastern end of the rail line. The town is most known for its small shops selling ceramics, lacework and woodwork. The Sorrentine Peninsula has views of Naples, Vesuvius and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive, connecting Sorrento and Amalfi, is a narrow road that threads along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted celebrities including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti. De St Francis Church in the heart of Sorrento is baroque and topped by a bulbous torenspits, it is bordered by a stunning cloister from the 13th century with capitals decorated with floral motifs supporting the interlaced arcades in the Sicilian-Arabic style. The courtyard is beautiful. The cloister is from the pagan era to the Middle Ages, and is a delightfully peaceful place to visit. Musical evenings, concerts and exhibitions are also sometimes held there. Today we can visit Sophia Loren photo exhibition.
Today we can visit Sophia Loren photo exhibition in the heart of Sorrento. Sophia Loren is awarded the honorary citizenship of Naples. We climbed the stairs to the exhibition. Sophia Loren is a famous and beautiful Italian actress and probably the last diva of that glittering world that is the cinema of the 50s and 60s. We enjoyed this wonderful exhibition of Sofia Loren.

Riksheimdalen is the largest mountain valley in Sykkylven (Norway), and a wonderful place to hike. Perfect tranquility, perfect silence - at least that day and by that lake.
There are four lakes in the valley, with quite simple names: First water (Førstevatnet), Second Water (Andrevatnet), Third Water (Tredjevatnet) and Fourth Water (Fjerdevatnet). This is the second.
A slightly too rainy and foggy day for a mountain trip, but fortunately the water was quiet and the air clear when I came to the second lake.
It had been raining very much the last week, which made the vegetation even greener than usual and the mountainsides are dark and shiny. This is the north-eastern side of the mountain, which is why snow persist even in mid august. I can only guess the altitude of the lake, 8-900 m perhaps?
A linguistic note: The Norwegian word "Vatn" means both water and a lake, hence "Second Lake" would be a more correct translation. But I like "Second Water" better.
