WRA005/001 haul 6D40 west through Gowrie Junction. This was the second half of the train bound for Roma to load, the first half being dropped off and stowed at Toowoomba.
Male Painted Buntings aren't fully colored until the end of their second year. This one is close, but his breast is more yellow than the watermelon red of the mature birds. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

An interesting over/under of road rails and river under the Freeman Parkway bridge in Glen Ridge, NJ. The scene is host to one of NJ Transit's three non-revenue ex-CNJ GP40Ps being utilized as a cab car this evening on the westbound Train #1003 to Denville, NJ. As the 48-year old EMD veteran rumbles through the scene over a signature DL&W structure the waters of the Second River gently flow towards the Passaic River.

Second hike of the week - a short little one, but it packs a big punch of color. Bonus: legal off leash for well behaved pups.
142051 trundles away from Rainford during September 1996 with the 15.55 Kirkby to Wigan Wallgate. All of the signals at Rainford were second hand when they arrived in 1970 coming from such exotic locations as Fazakerley West Junction and Knotty Ash. The bracket signal was from Knotty Ash and the one poking out of the Pacer was Fazakerley Both the signals in this view were replaced during January 2016.
This picture has been replaced with one scanned with a new machine.
This mega rare vagrant showed up this week on Monday and I went out yesterday to try my luck. This Common Ringed Plover is the second ever for the state of California!! Wish he showed up early in the morning when I was the only one there, but he seems to show around 10:30 ish with a flock of Semi-Palmated Plovers. This has been the pattern with this fella this whole week at Point Reyes National Seashore.

The church of Saint George, of the Holy Monastery, is on the site of a very old church. The exact date when the original church was erected is not known However it is believed there was a Byzantine church which dates back to the late Byzantine period: from the Latin rule, which began in 1204, to the Fall of Constantinople, in 1453.

Vouliagmeni Lake (lagoon) is located west of the Isthmos canal, 16 kilometers from the town of Loutraki, after the village of Perachora and next to the archaeological site of Heraion.

I've reached my second Munro summit of Cairn of Claise. I can't say how tired I am now, but quite pleased with myself!!
This bike trip takes me to the summits of two Munro's, Carn an Tuirc & Cairn of Claise. Carn an Tuirc is at a height of 1018 meters (3339 feet), while Cairn of Claise is sightly higher at 1062 meters (3484 feet). It took me four hours to drag myself (and my bike) up there, but because of the bike, it took less than an hour to get back to the car. Total distance covered was 26.5 kilometers (16.5 miles) and starting at 370 meters, I had an altitude gain of over 700 meters (2296+ feet) - that was a big one!!
Outside of Second Life, today marks a major milestone in my childs life, graduation. Strangely, the one thing that keeps circling through my brain is the thought that many of my friends also have children graduating today, but because they are currently serving far away - or have already given everything they have; they won't be home to see it.
I feel fortunate today, and just a little sad.
