After heavy downpours of rain, the Milwaukee Road 261s short break at Bongards ended with a local band climbing aboard and another engineer joining the fray. To give the engineer some time at the throttle and the band some time to play, the crew decided to head west for a second trip west!
That second trip was a blessing, a momentary respite from the heavy rain, and finally let us all see the train without being soaked. After a second trip near Glencoe, the train reversed back towards home, and the second pass through Norwood Young America made for a rather nice showing of the steamer and the incoming fall colours under still dark skies. Quite the show indeed.

Last night it was almost -20 Celsius (253K) outside so that quickly changed my mind and decided to do some star trailing in the backyard instead. When I looked at the shots I was amazed to see this ufo above my house! :P

So after it appeared in several photos I started getting messages about about my Hammer pendant and why I wear it :-)

So far as "why I wear it"; I think anyone's religious beliefs are personal to them and personally I am a "many roads lead to the Truth" type.
What I can say is that for *me*, my personal belief is that its important to *do* things and not just believe in them; so I have a penchant for systems that embrace that outlook.
Belief systems that embrace *moral* courage are also - in my opinion - valuable; because without courage people never accomplish anything worthwhile.
Moral courage is not about exposing yourself to violence or loving violence and war; its about doing what you believe to be right - even if it costs you something.
I feel like the world gets better when we push back against the things that diminish our humanity :-)
..and yes, If I get to pick Valhalla, Nirvanna, the Afterfields or Heaven; I'm going where the Party is :-)
Believe in something that makes you a better person, whatever form that takes !

For some time in 2015-2016 P&W operated loaded ethanol trains down the Gardner Branch from the Pan Am Railway in 2 40 car sections.. On November 25, 2015 P&W GE's 4005-3907-4003 pass Maple Spring Pond in Princeton, MA with the crew of GRWO running the second section.
Titled for the #FlickrFriday group week's challenge: second wind. Couple of reasons -- the band has sort of a "second wind" playing out on its 40 anniversary tour, and the current lead singer of Foreigner was crazy full of energy. So lots of second winds for him during the concert, including having fun with the photo pit photographers. Photographed for St. Louis Magazine.
