I photographed this seashell at a workshop I attended this morning.
Lighting stuff: I placed the shell on a piece of black perspex and lit it with two Yongnuo YN560 III strobes, one in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box at camera left, and the other in a 24 inch soft box at camera right. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.
I find sea shells to be beautiful objects from nature, and have photographed quite a few of them over the years. Other shells that I have photographed are in my creatively named Shells album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157626043932290
Textures by Dirk Wustenhagrn.
3 chrysanthemums on their way to the compost bin and a seashell balanced on bluetac.
I drew a box with distorted perspective, such that seen from the angle of the camera lens position it would be seen correctly. Then I placed the shells without covering the foreground vertical and top lines of the box.
The 'Seashell' is apparently a well-known amphitheater in the area. And, on this rainy afternoon, there was just a handful visitors wandering about this place.
Have a peaceful day, everyone...

Smile on Saturday theme: “CREATIVE WITH SEASHELLS"
😊 Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊
Each Sandpiper came with its own small seashell. I added to them with seashells I collected from Sanibel Island in Florida a few years ago.
Theme: "Sandpipers"
Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
Sometimes I like to play with the camera using different settings for the same subject. It never fails to amaze me; the number of different ways to photograph the same subject!
... in a necklace...
Seashells were money before coin,
jewelry before gems, art before canvas.
