In 1988 I moved from Norfolk to Felixstowe. To be with my partner at the time. That obviously didn't last forever, I was a kid. However this area is now in my psyche and it feels like home
one of the shots from a photo walk with Terry yesterday. We walked the well trodden Hastings mile but it made us think a bit and between us i'm sure we got a couple of new angles on things
'Seafront - Brighton 2050'… a spellbinding glimpse into the future of Brighton, captured in 2050.
Inspired by Ridley Scott’s hauntingly prescient 1985 film - 'Blade Runner', which presented an unforgettable vision of the Los Angeles of the future, 'Seafront - Brighton 2050' is the first artwork in history to attempt the technique of one continuous shot, captured in future time, taken entirely on location on the seafront of Brighton - using the new heavy duty 180 degree Parkour leap-action Canon EOS 2050AD.
Actual photo is over 3 metres long.
Took this today 30th Oct. and the weathers still not to bad at times for the camera. The town lies on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. The former burghs of Dysart, Linktown and Pathhead, and the villages of Sinclairtown and Gallatown are now incorporated into Kirkcaldy.Kirkcaldy's size reflects its historical importance as the largest east coast settlement between Edinburgh and Dundee. Its location in a relatively sheltered bay in the Firth of Forth enabled the growth of the port, which also supported a sizeable fishing fleet. Its hinterland includes good farmland and mineral wealth in coal. The last ship to enter the harbour was in 1991. Much of the quay area has since been built up with flats.

I kept my eyes open long enough to take a few photos along the seafront!
(It's usually Matt who shuts his eyes when someone takes a photo!)
Ella and I sat in the car until the worst of the weather had passed.
We still got soaked on her walk but it just took a little longer!

This pair of stone carvings by Gardner Molloy were apparently commissioned by a local group to act as aesthetically attractive "bollards" - some people would drive over this spot near Musselburgh Harbour and onto this spot which is actually a beachside path, not for cars. So they commissioned Mr Molloy to take these two stones and create these fishermen sculptures to block the way for cars in the nicest possible way. Nice approach to the problem! Apologies for having to use the flash but this was a very overcast and dull, dark day.

National Artist Jose Joya’s avant-garde, fresh style marked a distinct departure from the customary path of his contemporaries, who explored their creativity within the boundaries of representational art. At first sight, Joya’s abstractions are instantly enamoring. In all their variations, they command attention; his energy lingers in each commanding stroke, drawing viewers in. Each splash and swathe of azure color expresses the very essence of pacific emotion, the forms in their purity coalescing, binding seemingly disparate fragments together mellifluously into symbiotic wholes.
