Rhyl, UK. The planners of Rhyl seafront don't do soft - no grass, no flowers, no trees. They love concrete, brick and tarmac. Each development phase is a seperate development, of its age, each not relating to its neighbours like a street where the residents don't speak. Stark Brutialism of a kid's theme park, meets plain trading estate utility, the 80s obsession for coloured bricks and railings, a Swiss chalet inspired lifeboat station and the plain hideous. Only the drifting sand offers relief from the harsh lines. In its way, Rhyl seafront is quite fascintating, if not comforting!
The Brighton Wheel, also known during its planning and construction phase as the Brighton O and the Wheel of Excellence, is a transportable Ferris wheel installation erected in October 2011 on the seafront in Brighton, below the East Cliff near Brighton Pier. It has planning permission to remain in place until 2016.
The Brighton Wheel website states that the wheel is 45 metres (148 ft) in diameter, and has a maximum height of 50 metres (160 ft) above sea level.
There are 35 standard gondolas, each able to carry up to six adults and two children, and one VIP gondola able to carry up to four people, giving a maximum capacity of 284.
As demonstrated by its move from South Africa to England, the structure is fully transportable and its operator Paramount Attractions claim it can be disassembled and removed in two weeks. Commentary is available on the views and buildings visible during the ride, which consists of three full rotations lasting about 12 minutes in total. Opening hours are 10:00 am to 11:00 pm all year. The wheel is lit at night.
I saw this shot in Elliots in Prestwick and ripped it off.
It is a seating area that protects promenaders from the wind/ rain on Prestwick seafront.
Elliots is a popular resturant bar in Prestwick which is part of a larger chain. Personally I prefer to eat and drink elsewhere when in Prestwick as Elliots is usually very busy and a bit expensive.
