Also known as the town beach, this beach in Porthcawl was partly tarmaced over in the 1980s to repair sea defences. Swimming is prohibited as the beach is very dangerous at certain stages of tide. The rocks are very sharp in some places
Taken with the Canon G9, just getting to grips with this compact, finding it a little noisy in low light situations even with low ISO, good little camera though all said and done.
By the way, this is a sculpture on the Aberavon Seafront in Port Talbot, the Promenade there is coming along very nicely.
I like the British Victorian seafront, unfortunately I live in the town with the worst one in the UK.
The Victorian seafront building at Penarth is supposed to be "sympathetically restored” , however it looks more like demolition to me. The work has now been on stop for over 6 months since they took the roof off. Rain and snow is surely doing little to its long term prospects?

These light columns 'pulse' as cars drive by - pretty cool eh?!
I waited till something long went past and tried to trip the shutter as the light closest to me lit up. A lot of failed attempts but I was happy with this one.

Europe Trip - Hastings
We recently went back to Europe for our once yearly trip to 'the mother country' (as it's known in Australia).
Hastings is the town where I went to art college and met my special lady friend. I've probably taken more photo's in this location than any other place due to the hours spent doing black and white photography during my 4 years studying. Back then, it cost much of my grant and earnings from my 3 jobs to cover film, processing and paper... and the rest went on cymbals, drum sticks, skins, gigs, beer...
Why do all my hobby's cost so much?! All the negatives are in the loft somewhere, at some point I need to scan them up...
All good fun though! It was great to revisit some of the locations I shot over 15 or so years ago.
View of Brighton seafront showing pub and cafe tables and the illuminated West Pier. Taken at dusk, just after sunset. Blue sea. Blue and violet sky.

This well-dressed character was sat on Brighton seafront, having a chat with Clive from the Brighton group, who apparently often sees him around.
Part 2 of a 4 image sequence using the old Victorian seafront shelters along Cowes Seafront. This was a 15mm fisheye shot of both shelters.
Southsea seafront.
Happy Bench Monday everyone.
