The frame is made from punched cardstock circles.
Blogged here.
This figure is the biggest one I've made. It was a huge plaster mold for the head! I've since broken the mold, but there were about 20 pours, and several in this edition were made into just busts.
about 30"x20"x30". She is made of porcelain, cloth, antique lace, leather, mohair, china paint.
Substructure is, wire, cloth, fiber fill. Bamboo chair.

I’ve had these little guys finished for just a few weeks, but with classes starting this week I thought I’d take the time to post them. I believe the first time I heard about these creatures, known as Tardigrades, Water Bears, or Moss Piglets was on either Animal Planet, or the Discovery Channel. Fascinating little critters, if you are unfamiliar with them, take a look; you’ll fall in love with them too, I promise: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade
Anyway, this figure was sculpted with Sculpy clay and prepared for the molding process. I made a two-part rubber block mold using Polytek 74-30 Mold Rubber. The cast positives are made of Easy-Flo Clear Plastic, another Polytek product. From start to finish, the process from sculpting to the finished figure took about a week.
The head came from a fakey Littlest Pet Shop figure. The body was from an incredibly cheaply made Dawn doll clone. The arms are custom made by moi with sculpy and wire.

I work at a restaurant and we serve our strawberry daqueries in frozen glasses.
I didn't learn about the idea of 'liquid clay' until last week so I came up with a different technique to show the frostedness: Smeared pearl clay!
(with chunks taken out for fingerprints!)

i am working on lego predators minifigures and so far i have made the heads with there masks on using sculpy
I sculpted the shell in clay, and Vac formed plastic over this before Epoxy laminating two pulls for each half of the clam. The carved texture was achieved using sculpy adhered to the surface, then baked solid. The pearl started as a polystyrene sphere covered in aluminium foil before it was dipped in fast-cast and finished with an iridescent paint job.

Everything seems to be a bit of a challange with this gal, I removed the core, but since I took out the eyes and resculpted them, the inside is too small for eyes, I hd t go n there and tr to dig out the right shape. And the headcap part, aparently didnt have enough clay on a section and crumbled apart in the middle! EEP! I will have to try and make her a new headcap today.
I was wondering if anyone out there knew, if you make a core for a peice like the torso, do you have to cut it open remove it and stick the peices back together? the head was a little more straightforward, and I was curious what thoughts were.

The faces on these are interchangeable and this is my latest faceplate incorporating a hatch cover.
In 1923, German physicist Hermann Oberth published his thesis 'By Rocket into Planetary Space', which triggered wide-scale interest and scientific research on the topic of space flight.
The Oberth Colonists wander the universe in search of the other colonists to join together and map out the explored space. Once all the colonists have gathered themselves they can then piece together their knowledge and begin to plan their journey home. Unfortunately for them, they don't know how many colonists there were originally nor how many are still alive.
This I suspect is a doomed project. I bought some Crayola air-dry clay without thinking too much about it. Joe Amaro who did an excellent Castle Grayskull custom stated that he used "cheap Crayola clay" for the skin. This sounded excellent and a search on Amazon turned up a 2.5 lb. bucket of "Crayola clay" which was pretty cheap.
Now knowing what I do about ceramics and looking at this clay in retrospect and what it's stated to be made from I suspect it's going to shrink as it dries. This means since I built it over a sub-structure it's going to crack up as it shrinks. The packaging says nothing about shrinking but also doesn't say it doesn't shrink.
I hope I'm wrong but I suspect this particular version of this cliffside stand I made for Panthor to stand on is doomed. Oh well, I learned about skulpting rocks a bit so I'll probably do better next time. I think I'll buy some of the cheapest Sculpy for the next go.

This doll (my first) came alive as I was first trying to learn how to make spirit dolls. Spirit dolls are dolls made from many different mediums (clay, sculpy, wood, rocks, cloth, paper, etc). They reflect a part of the artist and usually have much to say. After I made this doll, I sat down with her and allowed her to speak to my heart. The poem is what she said. I was awe struck that such clarity and voice came from within me. I also know that she is honest when she speaks about who I am.
CRYSTAL
I am fun and joy.
I am clarity and openness.
I am seen as I am,
Without frills or pretense,
never hidden or covered.
I have sad and joyful eyes.
open wide to see clearly,
looking deeply,
and easily to be seen.
Tears freely come.
I have an open mouth
full of laughter and song.
I am full of praise and wisdom
speaking truth to my own soul
and to others.
My feet are bare
ready to dance,
big feet easily baring
all the weight I will carry.
They carry me where I must go.
I have open arms with hands lifted high
to admonish. teach, receive,
to welcome, to hold , to heal,
to drum, to dance
and clap with joy.
My name is crystal
and I carry the name about the neck.
The crystal is a tiny mountain rock
that has been blessed ~ by time and adversity
and has become a shining stone.
You too are a mountain rock,
Solid and strong
But clear and shining.
You are blessed by time and adversity
and have become crystal clear !

This is a delightful and very well done fanmade (by the very talented artist Yang Yang) miniature My Neighbor Totoro statue made of Fimo/Sculpy from 1999.
Perfect for putting next to computers to keep one company...

was just messing around... but for some reason I thought this was kinda cute... cuddling with my nonsensical, experimental shapes XD
