One day I will remember to write down the name of the old theatre-turned-antique-market in Paddington where this border is.
A piece of public art in Bede Park this large, ceramic scroll bears a map of the city.
Being an obsessive cartography nerd I photographed around the whole thing and threw together a compilation here.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of 972 texts from the Hebrew Bible and extra-biblical documents found between 1947 and 1956 on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea, from which they derive their name. They were specifically located at Khirbet Qumran in what was then the British Mandate for Palestine, now the West Bank.

The wording Lady Katryne chose for this particular piece is based on The German Mass and Order of Divine Service, Jan 1526, by Martin Luther. Script was crafted over Birka weekend (1-31-09), as the assignment had a short lead time. (3 weeks).

While on break at a symphony rehearsal, I took a picture of one of the String Bass player's scroll why they were practicing their Firebird part.
This image is derived from an earlier work called Pattern Cloud. I like that Digital work can evolve and iterate in a way analog art can not. You never know when a piece will trans migrate to the next step. Its about 90" long and I've yet to print it out full size.

Scroll of Fire is a monument found in the Jerusalem hills, and it commemorates Jewish history from The Holocaust until Independence. The monument was inaugurated in 1971.
The initiative for the monument came from B'nai B'rith of the United States, and was funded by them. The monument was sculptured by the artist Nathan Rapoport, who is a Holocaust survivor.
One of the scrolls describes the Holocaust and the other describes independence. In the space between the two scrolls, there are two rooms of memorial, and in each one is engraved a quote from the bible.
The beautiful scroll I received with my award. Illumination by Lady Ismay Ponde with words by Count Jehan.
Today the Jodo Mission of Hawaii saw the return of its hand-painted Japanese hanging scroll. At least 60 years old and the second largest such artifact in Hawaii, it was fully restored by skilled Japanese artisans under the direction of Japan Memorial Corporation's Tatsuji Maeda, who presented the restoration work to the Jodo Mission board this morning. This prized artwork will be carefully stored and only displayed in the temple maybe twice a year. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about these scrolls, it was certainly an education for us (and a substantial investment).

All those who dwell in felt tents and foreign strangers pay heed that we wish to recognize Chagan Khulan for her loyalty and service.
