Entry for Classic-Castle's seed-part contest:
Rescue of the Scrolls
Gonfredo awoke with a start. Thunderstorms were not uncommon this time of year, but this one seemed especially close. Glancing out his window, he saw that lightning had struck the Old Keep on the north side tower.
"Awake, Menino! Come quickly!"
Dutifully, the boy rolled off his cot and followed after his master, still half asleep. Outside, the noise and commotion helped rouse him suddenly; already villagers were rushing forward with pails to douse the spreading flames.
Gonfredo knew that their only concern would be to save the structure itself. The Keep had survived a number of fires before, and would probably survive this one, as well.
But the archives would not.
Embers fell all around them as they climbed the stairs. Menino wondered if there would be anything left to save, or if they themselves would even make it back out.
When they reached the landing, the old scholar winced to see that several rolls of parchment had already been charred. He realized they must have been the works of Wagstaff; luckily, however, the fire had not yet reached the de Portola manuscripts.
They stuffed their arms full of whatever they could find, and ducked back down the stairs through the burning wreckage of the staircase.

The card that signifies the essence of your celebrations in the earthiest of manners, this brown colored scroll card has leaf impressions in overall printing as the background. There is a central traditional shaped window in the center with golden outlines. Defining it are golden border and mast designs in true traditional style. The card is stuck round cylindrical bars in red and golden.

One day I will remember to write down the name of the old theatre-turned-antique-market in Paddington where this border is.
Milo is the most recently appointed Partner in Law firm Windsor & Maverick. Hot shot Milo impressed Senior Partner and law firm founder Callum Windsor with his razor sharp intelligence, prodigious ability to digest copious amounts of complex text and his charismatic courtroom style. When Milo was headhunted by a rival firm, Callum offered him a partnership role and an enticing Golden Handshake (enough to make Milo turn down the rival offer) Sergio is new to the firm, just arrived. His fashionable yet quirky style (city pinstripes with mountain hiking/ski boots) and personable charm has made him the office darling. But what the office doesn't know (yet) is that Milo and Sergio are in a long term relationship which started in law school... will they keep it a secret or let everyone know?

A piece of public art in Bede Park this large, ceramic scroll bears a map of the city.
Being an obsessive cartography nerd I photographed around the whole thing and threw together a compilation here.

Ian Davies, who I will deem here as the "Teenage Wiz-Kid Birder" expertly led a small group of birders through parts of the Arlington Reservoir and Busa Farm in Arlington Massachusetts.
We saw a long list of bird species, including an Osprey and a Northern Harrier passing through (not photo'd).
It was great practice for me with my new 400 f/5.6 L. I'm quickly learning the rule of thumb that you need at LEAST a shutter speed 1 / focal length to hand-hold. And you often actually need a lot faster shutter speed. Gotta start using the tripod.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of 972 texts from the Hebrew Bible and extra-biblical documents found between 1947 and 1956 on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea, from which they derive their name. They were specifically located at Khirbet Qumran in what was then the British Mandate for Palestine, now the West Bank.

Got some really bad news while finishing this cake: Had to finish the boarder in seconds with my hands SHAKING!
The bottom 4 cakes are pina colada cakes filled with pineapple and coconut. The Large square is vanilla cake filled with cream cheese. The Large circle under the flowers is strawberry cake filled with cream cheese and strawberries. The small circle above flowers was pineapple flavor.
