This project (1922) was not built. Mies made a first design for a glass high-rise in 1921. His second design was published in "Frühlicht" and the model was displayed at the "Große Berliner Kunstausstellung" in 1922. Apparently the design was a study without specific purpose. Mies surrounded his glass sky-scraper with classicist façades, which reminded Lampugnani of Poelzig's expressionist film architecture of 1919/20. Rehbein, Curt. Model in front of the building housing the exhibition "Große Berliner Kunstausstellung", in the background the "Marine-Panorama".

WIT: Shot in RAW then created two exposure versions that were later merged in PSE4. This allowed me to get better lighting on the ice scraper. Adjusted the levels, cropped a bit and then saved.

19-year-old Tyrone Stevens, a.k.a "The Scraper Bike King," (front) rides down Foothill Boulevard on his three-wheeled scraper bike. The term "scraper" was originally coined to describe a car with flashy paint and large rims that nearly scrape the inside of its wheel well. Photo by Jacob Fenston.
