On October 18, 1986, NS locomotive 1113 pulls IC1535 from The Hague to Venlo. The photo shows the train between Schiedam and Rotterdam; the bridges in the background span the Delfshavense Schie.

Schilderachtig maar ook verwaarloosd plekje aan de Schie in hartje Schiedam.
Schiedam heeft veel potentie maar er moet ook nog heel veel gebeuren.
Van binnenuit een inkijk in één van de luchtbruggen die loopt vanaf de productie naar de expeditie. Op de achtergrond is de Penitentiaire Inrichting 'De Schie' te zien. Deze opname laat hier de vorm van dit justitiële complex zien, namelijk een schip; hoort echt bij deze wereldhaven Rotterdam. Beneden is een persoon te zien, deze laat zien hoe groot en hoog dit overweldigende gebouw wel is. Even groot bekijken - door op de 'L' toets te drukken.

Water Tower Leiden
The water tower in Leiden was designed by architect W.C. van Manen and was built in 1908. The Transitional style in which the tower is designed typifies a phase between the Neo-Renaissance water towers and the more businesslike water towers.
This water tower is also known as the first water tower with a reinforced concrete skeleton. The tower is made up of 12 large concrete piles (the skeleton) between which the walls were made. The water tower has a height of 29.5 meters and has one water reservoir with a volume of 1200 m3. The tower has the status of a national monument.
The water tower is located on the Hoge Rijndijk next to the Wilhelmina Bridge over the Rhine-Schie Canal.
The water tower was decommissioned in 1993. In December 2010, the municipality sold the water tower. The new owner received a permit in March 2013 for an intensive renovation. A 12-sided house has been realized on the roof. Two floors have been realized in the water reservoir for sleeping and working. Daylight can enter by making openings in the concrete water basin and outer shell. In the narrow part (neck) of the tower, 5 floors have been realized for a B&B.
RET 1438 komt de Beukelsbrug over de Delfshavense Schie afgereden als lijn 38 van Station Schiedam Centrum naar Rotterdam Centraal. Na Rotterdam Centraal wordt maar beperkt doorgereden naar Crooswijk.

The former Van Nelle Factory (Dutch: Van Nellefabriek) on the Schie river in Rotterdam, is an important historic industrial building in the world.
The buildings were designed by architect Leendert van der Vlugt from the Brinkman & Van der Vlugt office in cooperation with civil engineer J.G. Wiebenga, at that time a specialist for constructions in reinforced concrete, and built between 1925 and 1931. It is an example of Nieuwe Bouwen, modern architecture in the Netherlands.
In the 20th century it was a factory, processing coffee, tea and tobacco and later on additional chewing gum, cigarettes, instant pudding and rice. Currently it houses a wide variety of new media and design companies and is known as the Van Nelle Design Factory ("Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek" in Dutch). Some of the areas are used for meetings, conventions and events.
The Van Nelle Factory shows the influence of Russian constructivism.
The Van Nelle Factory is a Dutch national monument (Rijksmonument) and in June 2014 it was added to the Unesco list of world heritage sites.

I saw this stork near the Tempel, a country estate in the Dutch municipality of Rotterdam on the Delftse Schie. The stork was on the lookout and started to rattle when her partner came back home.

Eén van de grote zalen met de genummerde tabakszuilen met uitzicht op o.a. de geel met groene banden beschilderde beton-tanks van Mebin Betonopslag. Opvallend zijn hier de moderne grote plafondlampen. Ik vind deze lampen niet passen bij dit gebouw. Wat meer naar links aan de overkant van de Delfs-havense Schie en schuin achter de Penitentiaire Inrichting 'De Schie' ligt Diergaarde Blijdorp. Even groot bekijken - door op de 'L' toets te drukken.
One of the large halls with the numbered tobacco columns with a view of, among other things, the yellow with green bands painted concrete tanks of Mebin Beton Storage. Striking are the modern large ceiling lamps. I don't think these lamps fit this building. A little more to the left on the other side of the Delfshavense Schie and diagonally behind the Penitentiary Institution 'De Schie' is Diergaarde Blijdorp. De tulpen in de Overschiesestraat in Schiedam staan in bloei als Citadis-tram 2103 passeert. De tram rijdt hier langs de zijgevel van het Proveniershuis. De bewoners kochten zich in het proveniershuis in en kregen levenslang kost en inwoning. Het Proveniershuis ligt aan de Schiedamse Schie en is gebouwd tussen 1756 en 1761 naar een ontwerp van stadsarchitect Arij van Bol'es. Voordat het Proveniershuis hier stond was op deze plek het 'leprooshuis' gevestigd. Het Schiedamse Proveniershuis is een rijksmonument.

At the end of my trip on the road bike I rode through the polder park Cronesteyn. My eye fell on the pheasant that was leisurely searching for food there. He cared little about my presence and quietly continued to search.
Polderpark Cronesteyn is located in the Kleine Cronesteynse polder, also known as Knotterpolder. The polder is located between the A4, the railway to Alphen aan de Rijn, the Rijn-Schie Canal and the N 206. The size is approximately 90 ha.
In 1975 Cronesteyn came into the hands of the municipality of Leiden. In 1982 the polder park was realized according to the design of Evert Cornet. The park has become a meeting place, resting point, historical monument and special biotope.
Walking and cycling paths have been laid out in the park, and you can also skate on the cycling paths. In addition, there are, among other things, a swamp garden, a water playground, an estate forest and a campsite. There is also a forest where herons breed every year.

Molen De Kameel is met zijn 30,5 meter hoogte tot bovenkant kap geen kleine jongen. Toch oogt hij bescheiden naast de oude windreuzen die Schiedam nog rijk is. Dat komt omdat deze nieuwste moutmolen oorspronkelijk is gebouwd in 1715, tijdens de beginjaren van de jeneverindustrie. De behoefte aan mout was toen nog niet zo groot zodat ook de molens konden volstaan met een rank postuur en een kleinere hoogte. Met de voltooiing van De Kameel is dit deel van de jenever- en molengeschiedenis van Schiedam weer zichtbaar geworden.

It has been a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014.[1] Soon after it was built, prominent architects described the factory as "the most beautiful spectacle of the modern age" (Le Corbusier in 1932) and "a poem in steel and glass" (Robertson in 1930).

Komt ook de zon NET door een piepklein gaatje heenzetten, tjonge!
En het beste nieuws van vandaag (nadat ik een film zag over hoe de D700 via de A (diafragma stand) in je nadeel metert) - nu en voor altijd, ook op de kritische momenten - schiet ik volledig in de M(anuele) stand. Ik wist dat ik het moest kunnen, maar nu *durf* ik het ook, rahoe! :)

With my daughter on a bike taking a detour to our home - just an hour before sunset - couldn't resist visiting the Veerhuis... Couldn't believe it, three swans moving towards me! Swans + ferry house, one of the few combinations not in my collection yet, hehe, so...
At the same time the sun peaked through a tiny hole in the clouds - can you believe it? Sweet!
And the best news of today (after watching a video which showed how the D700 measures light in your disadvantage in A(perture) mode) - now and forever - even at those critical moments - I shoot in M(anual) mode. I knew I had to, I knew I could, but now I finally *dare* to do it too - hurray! Sorry for being happy with myself, hehe!

Delfshaven was on my to-do list for a long time, and I went there yesterday with a friend, drink a beer and enjoyed the historic buildings there......

The Park harbor (Dutch: Parkhaven) is a pre-war port between the Lloyd Quarter and the Park in Rotterdam. The Parkhaven was dug between 1890 and 1893 and between 1903 and 1908 designed for the shipment of pieceware.
By completing the Park Locks in 1933, the Parkhaven became a connecting route between the river Nieuwe Maas and the Delfshavense Schie. The tower is the Euromast.
In the water of the Parkhaven harbor you can see the floating New Ocean Paradise Restaurant Hotel boat in Chinese style.

Molen De Kameel is in 2011 officieel in gebruik genomen. Na jaren van voorbereiding ging op maandag 10 november 2008 de herbouw van deze molen van start op het Doeleplein in Schiedam. Molen De Kameel stond tussen 1715 en 1868 vlakbij dit plein en maakte deel uit van zo’n twintig stellingmolens. Deze molens zorgden voor het malen van graan voor de destijds grootschalige Schiedamse jeneverindustrie. De molen wordt volledig maalvaardig en krijgt een aantal publieksfuncties. Ook zal De Kameel naar alle waarschijnlijkheid groene stroom gaan opwekken.
