The Church of the Resurrection, also known as the "Savior on Spilled Blood", was built in memory of Alexander II who was assassinated in 1881. The church stands in the very place where a bomb was thrown into his carriage by a young man who opposed the Tsar's reforms.

The Cathedral is decorated with Italian limestone and various semiprecious stones like jasper, mountain crystal, topaz, and others. On the outside, there are twenty granite plates which tell the most important events of Alexander II's reign.

The highlight of both the interior and exterior of the Cathedral are its mosaic collection based on the paintings of Vasnetsov, Nesterol, and Vrubel. With a total area of 23130 square feet, it is one of the largest mosaic collections in Europe.

he, with a bottle of alcohol, sitting in front of the city hall, acted as if he is the savior of the world. He preached aloud, pretending not seeing me , less than 2 meters away, at ground level, aiming the lens at him...

(Echeveria strictiflora). Davis Mountains, Texas.

One of the Davis Mountains most spectacular botanical residents is the Desert Savior. This succulent member of the stonecrop family (Crassulaceae) is primarily found on rocky canyon walls and slopes of central and northern Mexico. In the United States it is known only from Jeff Davis, Brewster, and Presidio Counties in far West Texas.

We found several growing from rock crevices and the bases of boulders at elevations above 6000 feet. Here they were able to take advantage of minute amounts of soil and moisture that collect over time. In the Davis Mountains they seem to be found primarily in exposed rock outcrops and canyon walls adjacent to rocky streams.

The Desert Savior is a truly spectacular plant. It's stalk of waxy, fiery flowers reaches up to a foot and a half over it's thick, grayish green succulent leaves. Each curled stalk may bare 2 dozen or more flowers that gradually open, unfurling the stalk as they develop and fade. Hummingbirds are likely an important pollinator of these succulents, as evidenced by their bright red coloration, somewhat tubular flowers, and the fact that their peak blooming seems to coincide with the start of hummingbird migration of late summer.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург, tr. Sankt-Peterburg) is the second largest city in Russia, politically incorporated as a federal subject (a federal city). It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea.

In 1914 the name of the city was changed from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd (Russian: Петроград), in 1924 to Leningrad (Russian: Ленинград), and in 1991, back to Saint Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg is a major European cultural center, and also an important Russian port on the Baltic Sea.

The Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Saint Petersburg is also home to The Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world.

The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (Russian: Церковь Спаса на Крови, Tserkovʹ Spasa na Krovi) is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is also variously called the Church on Spilt Blood (Russian: Церковь на Крови, Tserkov’ na Krovi) and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ (Russian: Собор Воскресения Христова, Sobor Voskreseniya Khristova), its official name.

Architecturally, the Cathedral differs from St. Petersburg's other structures. The city's architecture is predominantly Baroque and Neoclassical, but the Savior on Blood harks back to medieval Russian architecture in the spirit of romantic nationalism. It intentionally resembles the 17th-century Yaroslavl churches and the celebrated St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.

The Church contains over 7500 square meters of mosaics—according to its restorers, more than any other church in the world.

A rainy night in St Petersburg overlooking "The Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood"

Lovely colorful image of the architectural ensemble of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and Patriarchy Bridge at winter twilight. Ice on the frozen Moskva River (Moscow River) had been broken by icebreaker cruise before this shot was taken.

The fishermen of the high tides sails for weeks or sometimes even for months during the fishing season. The boatman in this picture is one hero I've seen who managed to swim underneath the boat to get it out of the hidden sand under the riverbed as the whole barge was stuck for almost a day.

Nijhum Dwip is a recently discovered island 2 kilometers southwest of Hatia under Noakhali district. Isolated from the Hatia channel, some identify the island as a cluster of 4 or 5 smaller islands. It was initially discovered by fishermen who noticed a small piece of floating land located at the southern part of the sea. Over the years, the island accumulated land-mass and was soon large enough for recognition.

It was not settled until 1970, until then only seaonally.Because of riverbank erosion in nearby areas, especially Hatiya, Shahbajpur and Ramgati people migrated to the island as new settlers. Subsequently, a substantial aforestation drive was undertaken by the forestry department of Bangladesh. The island soon became a recognised eco-tourist spot because of the perennial mangrove forests and wild life including animals such as spotted deer, wild boar and rhesus macaque. The island is also home to nearly 100 species of migratory birds, around a dozen of which are considered to be critically endangered.

In 2001, a significant portion of the island was designated as Nijhum Dwip National Park under the jurisdiction of Noakhali district in Bangladesh. The population in Nijhum Dwip in 2001 was 10,670. Their main occupations are cultivation, fishing and livestock farming. But the island suffers from natural calamities, and life is hard and risky.

Korey got a new tattoo at Southern Steel in Pikeville. Apparently they're some pretty rad dudes. If you're in the area and are looking to get some ink done, definitely check

them out :]

Oh! And the guy that did this, proposed to his wife in one of the sweetest most original ways. He tattooed "will you marry me" on his leg with a box that said "yes" and a box that said "no", so that when he knelt down, it was showing. He handed her the tattoo machine (she is not a tattoo artist and had never done it before)--she made a check in the yes box, of course.

Walking the streets of Trinidad, Cuba, before sunrise is always an adventure. On this morning, I came upon this open doorway revealing portraits of revolutionaries, Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos, beneath a portrait of Jesus Christ. iPhone 6+ native camera, SnapSeed.

A children crying in her mothers arm during Ashura procession. Perhaps he was scared seeing the sea of people. But in time he will be one of them. One day he will lead the processions. He will bleed himself in the memory of his Hossain.
