The church on the left of the collage is in Epsom, NH and was recently moved from about 1/2 mile away to preserve it.

The long drive home was tolerable largely due to the spectacular scenery including this beautiful sunset over the Appalachian Mountains.

In Arizona, ceiling fans are crucial. These help keep our cooling costs down. I have three in my small home, but am mindful to run them only when I am present.

Pat says she doesn’t have a special “pitch” or story that she uses when recruiting blood donors– she is just completely sincere in asking each potential donor for their time and effort to provide a life-saving blood donation.

Eric's GFD saved us tonite as she came to us with a taxi and we could escape from the heavy rain, though my jeans ans shoes were all wet...

On October 11, 2014, Patrick O'Connor from the Bay Area Seed Interchange Library led an Introduction to Seed Saving workshop at the Hayward Main Library.

Participants learned how to save seeds of common vegetables, including “wet seeds” like tomatoes. Patrick reviewed the advantages of growing locally adapted crops. Participants were encouraged to develop a habit of saving and contributing seeds to the Hayward Seed Lending Library to share with local gardeners.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Hayward Library. This workshop is presented as part of the Hayward Seed Lending Library program, which operates as a community seed exchange. “Check out” a variety of vegetable and flower seeds to plant in your personal garden. In return, consider harvesting some of the seeds from mature plants for your own use and for sharing with the Seed Lending Library. It’s easy to become a member or volunteer – learn more at: hayward-ca.gov/seeds.

Happy new year to all flickeranians! Lucky enough to have warmer temps and snow so thought about detail as a theme, so went out with the F3 and MicroNikkor to look closely. Hope everyone had a safe holiday, and thanks again for a great year and looking forward to the one ahead!
