The valley fog saved the sunrise yesterday from terminal dullness. And this morning proved it. I bet I didn’t shoot 2 dozen pictures this morning. Oh well. I can’t complain. Last week was a good week, especially for summer.

The breathtaking views of the Slad Valley in the Cotswolds are unbelievably under threat from developers. Having experienced these fantastic views for the first time this week, I find it extremely sad development in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is even being considered.

An LMS design, but built by British Railways in 1952, 0-6-0 diesel electric shunter 12131 is seen awaiting restoration at Sheringham on the North Norfolk Railway

Assigned Class 11 by BR, 12131 was a Fenland locomotive, based at March, Ely and Cambridge before being withdrawn in March 1969 and sold to the National Coal Board; moving to Snowdon Colliery in Kent and arriving on the NNR railway shortly before this picture was taken

The Dodge van on the right was brand new, but had a very short life, registered in April 1982, it never received an MOT and was untaxed after November 1985

One of the ducklings separated from the group. Sabrina spent at least half an hour trying to heard it back to its Momma. We suspected it was sick and the Mom ditched it but she insisted to try to reunited it with no success. Everyone from the pier watched in enjoyment until Sabrina finally gave up, walked away and cried. It totally broke her heart! :(

Late afternoon sunshine lighting up the east side with this golden glow is a common sight in Whitby, but beautiful none the less..

Unfortunately, a number of the brightly painted cottages, upper middle, have been demolished since this photo was taken. The incessant rain of recent months eroded the foundations causing the dwellings to slip away..A rapid response from the local authorities soon had demolition men using special equipment to remove the fabric of the buildings, brick by brick! Now there is a yawning gap.
