I just started working on this absolutely gorgeous sampler, and I've been really enjoying it so far! It's great practice and will make a beautiful piece to hang in my apartment. Love it! : )

Pattern: Daisychain ABCs by Alicia Paulson.

Buttonhole/blanket stitching practice for TAST www.therosejournal.blogspot.com/

As I look at all of the photos of fiber art by fabulous Flickr artists, I find myself inspired to try new ideas, learn new things. So This is my sampler of embroidery stitches, It is not in the traditional way some samplers are made.. Im not really a traditional girl.

The fabric is from Ikea, it is mostly black and white line drawings, a perfect thing to practice on.

Thanks for the inspiration all of my dear flickr contacts :) You are are all so talented and Im glad to know you via the web.

Here are my blocks for the 3x6 sampler bee. This is my first time participating and I had a great time!

pattern used is the Starry Web pattern from Quilter's Cache.

Top complete - now to make the backing and quilt it.

Small runner. 27 x 37cm (11 x 14.5 inches). Inspired by Tatreez embroidery.

I added 12 more blocks to make it a twin sized quilt. Backed with a flannel from Irving Street by Erin McMorris and bound with Summersault Pinwheel in Marine. My daughter loves it as it fulfills her wish for rainbows and lots of blue.

Thank you Faith, Lee and Kate for hosting the Series.

Progress so far... scrolling down! Squee!!

Three panels sewn together. These are the "yardage" that a pair of pants will be made out of...well, plus one more panel that's not shown here. Tammy has actually finished the pants, but I'm way behind on taking and loading pictures and someone asked to see these when I could get them up...so here ya go. This is a composite of pictures of each panel seperately. Oh, the elephant should get uploaded this evening...(I hope!)

My first cross stitched piece.

Quote from Colbert Report:

"Reason has been a part of organized religion ever since two nudists took dietary advice from a talking snake."

It's a real "sampler", in that I used a lot of stitches I hadn't tried before. (see notes on that image.)

I tried to improve the binding joins with a small embroidery...

this is a trial layout of my blocks. i started this as a quilt along, but got in a hurry and wanted to add more blocks, so i found more patterns on the internet and went for it! i love this quilt and i love french general's fabrics!

Here are a few sneak peeks of a vintage lace sampler I have just finishedt. I am not showing it in its entirety as I am submitting it for publication in the next Sew Somerset magazine and don't want to give too much away yet. (Lots of 20 minute sessions!)

somehow, the page on the left ended up looking more like a scrapbook page. The title of these pages is "Oh How I Love" and I love pearls, kids and dogs, haha!

working on another sampler to test out some more idea for my on going thoughts from alchemy: enso. there are a few of karen's stitches here so it isn't totally and dog's dinner served with a pig ear!

Another Penny Sampler block finished! I was proud of myself on this one because I realized as soon as I started that I'd use up all of that "snowy" background fabric if I used it but I went ahead anyway (I have no problem cutting into a new piece of fabric but to use up the last of anything is always something I avoid). I've had that one for years and think it's cute for the forest so it went to a good use.

Four blocks finished of the nine that I should have done by now. I'm getting closer to catching up with the class!

Check out the different versions that our writers and readers have been stitching! From left to right: arrow stitch, sheaf filling stitch, seeding, granito stitch, detached wheatear stitch, cross-stitches, and ermine stitch. The dividing lines are coral stitch, chain stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, split stitch, Portuguese stem stitch, and my whole garden is fenced in by back stitched chain stitch.
