Commission brief: Old fashioned and have a squid in it. Yeah baby, whaddya reckon? I'm a bit pleased with this.

Actually timed this, which is a good thing, as if asked I would have guessed I would spend/had spent about 6 maybe 7 hours stitching. Fifteen and a half :O Dang. This knowledge will really help me on future projects!

Blogged.

This is my first official embroidery sampler and wow, was it ever fun to make! Who knew "complicated" stitches were so easy?! :-D

Just trying out some new (for me) patterns here.

Here it is now, folks. All crumpled and in need of a wash, still smelling of woodsmoke from when I sat and stitched by the communal fire at Uncivilisation. I'm certainly getting better at stuff, and I'm running out of space! Here's the last photo of it: www.flickr.com/photos/35345383@N05/5926168215/ bit bigger now, eh?

My husband thinks it's retro, but I love the colors.

Hip To Be Square/FMQ Sampler Finally Completed! Blogged at colormequilty.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-finished-and-it-fe...

Finished Oh, Fransson! Mod Sampler Quilt plus a matching pillow! I'm so happy with the way this quilt turned out. Better pictures coming later, it's rainy out today.

Out for a hike today after a night of rain, the forest floor was decorated with newly emerged and colorful mushrooms. As luck would have it, I did not bother to take my DSLR along but did have my phone, which was used to capture this sampler. To put them all together, I emailed them to myself for access on my desktop, used LR for a quick edit, PS to create a contact sheet, emailed them back to myself for access on my phone again, and Snapseed to create a border. Then back to my desktop to upload to Flickr. With all that roundabout processing (I'm sure there's a simpler way) would it qualify for Sliders Sunday?

The City Sampler top all completed.

Sorry for the dark pic. I can't keep secrets to save my life so here's the whole top, including the surprise middle block. Thanks to all for the awesome suggestion of contrasting sashing. I love it! Now for the quilting!

Quilt pattern was published by McCall's Quilting Magazine.

Depending on how you count these, I've used at least 12 different kinds of stitches!

A tutorial for a modern bargello block, as part of the Something New Sampler series. Blogged here: thecutelifesmiles.blogspot.com/2013/01/something-new-samp...

A really really true sampler. Blogged!

To be framed and presented at the wedding this Saturday. Got the pattern from UK magazine CrossStitcher which featured a Royal Sampler for Kate & William. Changed names and dates (obviously...) and replaced the pattern's crown with a cake.

This was a bit of departure for me but so much fun. Learned so many new stitches!

Made long ago in school craft group to show Lazy Daisy stitch.

Dear Partner,

I've taken this little quilt apart and put it back together again. I like it much better this way ... and really hope you do, too! The chocolate wrappers were just too distracting, so, they're outta there. Maybe they'll end up on the back? I had to put a heart sticker on the block in the upper right - too much information in that little piece of map fabric under there - haha!

Next step, quilting ... If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

xo,

Gayle
