The version we should really have seen on this castings debut with MUCH MUCH needed front tampo detailing and more appropriate chrome disc wheels. Yes its a tiny little thing, just like the real vehicle, but it punches above its weight with the cuteness and obscurity factor. Not the type of van we see in the UK much anymore but are still very popular in the Far East where road space is at a premium. Part of Case B which continues to be a very rare sight in UK Tesco stores. Mint and boxed.

Sambar is a traditional South Indian kulambu recipe that is used with rice and tiffin items like idly, dosa, vada, pongal etc. South Indian cuisine is incomplete without this sambar. The word Sambar is from Tamil word “Champaaram” meaning spicy condiments. Sambar has several flavours and varies with regions like TamilNadu, kerala and karnataka. Actually this murungakkai sambar recipe is a basic one made with instant sambar powder either homemade or store bought. Although sambar can be prepared with so many vegetables, this drumstick sambar recipe has an unique flavour and aroma. I prepare atleast this sambar twice in a month and it comes out very well every time without fail.

2020 Case B is finally becoming a bit more available at Tesco despite first being spotted here way back in February and sadly means we are bound to miss out on any newer batches for some time yet! A lucky find in a local Tesco meant a few more of these little cuties came home with me. Tiny in real life and thus tiny in miniature, this is a real curve ball casting for Matchbox and one which has finally come good on its second edition thanks to more appropriate chrome disc wheels and front and rear detailing. Mint and boxed.
I can't even promise this is the last one as I bought a Matchbox nine vehicle set recently and guess what? Yep, it contains another one of these white 2014 Subaru Sambars! LOL
This is DEFINITELY DEFINITELY the last one I will buy as a single ;-p

We were out on elephants early morning in Chitwan National Park, Nepal and came across this Sambar Deer Stag. The grasses in the foreground annoy me somewhat, but this is the nearest I got to the classic early morning stag shot. He was superb.

Adult males and pregnant or lactating females possess an unusual hairless, blood-red spot located about halfway down the underside of their throats. This sometimes oozes a white liquid, and is apparently glandular in nature.
This is one of our favorites, which also enjoyable to cook, whole process reminds of science experiment, is very unpredictable and each time batter comes out differently. This time it was very obedient and successful, and inspired me to immortalize the result :) Sharing for interested my idli recipe. Enjoy and Bon Appétit! :)
Idli:
1.5 cup urad dal (whole peas as it has more wild yeast then split)
1.5 cup brown basmati (for more traditional taste take peas and rice in ratio 1p : 2r)
1 tsp fenugreek seeds (8-10)
1 tsp salt
- Soak basmati and Urad Dal overnight (separately in open wide-mouthed containers, and add a few fenugreek seeds to both. This is an old tip, to improve the taste and fermentation.)
- Grind both separately til extra smooth
- Mix the two batters with your hand gently in a folding motion to incorporate lots of air
- Keep covered 12-24 h in oven light on
- Add salt and gentle mix the batter. Consistency should be like condensed milk, add water if necessary
- Steam idlis in idli stand ~ 15 min
- Remove each from stand when still warm
P.S. I personally recommend enjoy this dish with mint-cilantro chutney - Sooo Goood!
I think this is a Japanese Subaru Sambar microvan retro-Kombi conversion.Still flourishing in the Japanese automotive industry, the Sambar continues to be produced in Japan, China, Korea, as well as in Finland

"Sambar Deer", large deer native to the Indian Subcontinent, southern China and Southeast Asia. Young or sickly deers are easy prey for leopards and dholes.

I love these little 'mini bus' things. Japan does certainly throw out some real oddities, but brilliant at the same time. This one has been here since 2012.
Latest 2022 Case C recolour of the Matchbox Subaru Sambar with its interesting Japanese script which I believe translates as Speedy Delivery or something similar. If this was a Tomica it would no doubt be a strong seller but unfortunately collectors just haven't connected with this casting and the curse of being a peg warmer continues to haunt its reputation. Mint and boxed.
Imported in 2006 but model not listed and it got a Volkswagen logo on the front look like a small cow camper
