Cometh the hour...

This Sambar, Cervus unicolor, was photographed in Malaysia, as part of a research project utilizing motion-activated camera-traps.

Obviously not a VW... and not a Ford Mondeo Verona either, which is what the registration comes back as.

I'm not sure how long these VW conversion kits have been around for the Sambar, but there are a few for sale on the interweb. This is the first I've seen in the metal.

I wonder what VW think about the use of their logo on these...

No need for an all plastic body here, this thing is TINY! ;-P

First appearing in a nine vehicle set at Tesco and now as a Case Q single at One Below is the utterly charming little Matchbox Subaru Sambar truck. Very Tomica in its subject choice though i'm certain Tomica wouldn't sacrifice much needed front detailing for side decals, that seems to be a Mattel only requirement! I detailed my first example with Molotow but decided to keep this example stock but it really really does require at least some lights and badging! Mint and boxed.

Thank heavens this little cutie has finally made its way to the UK thanks to its inclusion in a new nine vehicle set which have just begun to hit Tesco. Like the real thing this Matchbox Subaru Sambar really is teeny weeny, thankfully MBX have dare not use plastic for its body otherwise it would probably blow over if somebody sneezed near it! ;-p

The market for such tiny vans and pick-ups has pretty much dried up here with only a few obscure Chinese marques carrying on but at one time were a very common sight on our roads particularly of the Bedford and Isuzu kind. For such a small diecast i'm surprised Matchbox have skimped on front tampo detailing instead giving it some side Subaru badging so on this occasion I couldn't resist using some Molotow on its headlights. Mint and boxed.
