the art work: 'Safe' by Clayton Thompson. artist's brief: This installation is a comment on the journey and destination for many victims of domestic violence. SAFE symbolises a 'Safe House' and highlights that moment in time when the individual begins the journey from victim to survivor. SAFE is a catalyst for change, conversation, awareness and highlights the importance of emergency shelters for people surviving domestic abuse. The project acknowledges the journey of the survivors, and encourages victims of domestic violence to end the cycle of abuse through prevention, intervention and protection. Size: 72000mm x 6000mm x 6000mm. Materials: square mesh steel reinforcing and 6000 cylindrical pieces of polyethylene foam. Swell Sculpture Festival

"Safe & Sound"
Taylor Swift (feat. The Civil Wars)
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go."
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone,"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Don't you dare look out your window, darling.
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold onto this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone
Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
La, la (la, la)
La, la (la, la)
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
La, la (la, la)
Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh, oh

When all hell breaks loose, it sure is nice to have a safe place.
Just a little scene I wanted to throw together since I had some minifigs built. Just a small safe house with some post apoc survivors I guess.
A new term for the lexicon. I understand its meaning and the reason why, but it still sounds like Orwellian Newspeak to me. As a boy in New Guinea I still remember visiting the leper colonies.
I love to see walkways like this, built for people who have challenges with mobility. This one ends with a large ramp, helping folks to get down a steep hill.
All of my friends know that I love to travel. But while I love seeing new places and countries, I don't feel the same way about flying....or rather the act of flying. And the smaller the plane, the more I tend to get that sinking feeling. My friend Bruce has been a bit of an aviation buff for many years. He can easily tell you the names and paths of just about every type of plane landing at the airport. So when a mutual acquaintance of ours made a suggestion to take a short flight around the island (for his pilot's license requirements), he was ready to jump at the chance. I will admit that I was lukewarm to the idea but their enthusiasm was infectious.
Maybe it was time to try something new. So, even with the initial misgivings, I decided to jump in. The first flight got cancelled due to the weather but the second one looked good. So on May 5 2018 (Cinco de Mayo), I decided to bite the bullet and packed up my camera to take in a side of Barbados not seen by many. I've been on a plane to and from Barbados before, but never circling the island at around 2,000 ft. And what an experience it was.
After the last shot, I decided to put down my DSLR and shoot a few short videos for instagram on my tablet of our landing. You can see those in the video for You Tube. The link is on the blog post so check that out. We're back on land, safe and sound. Our pilot Ade is just doing his best to secure the plane after all of the passengers have disembarked. I decided to sit on the ground to get a shot of the plane from a different perspective and then he walked into the frame which was perfect.
To all of you, hope you enjoyed the weekend and have an awesome week ahead, wherever you are!

...in daddy's arms.
I can't decide if I like this shot or not, I'm kind of drawn to the angle.
I guess this would also qualify for BW? Yes?
I know this tends to be an overshot subject, but, it also is one of my favorite. The Milwaukee Harbor Lighthouse.

The CH-53K King Stallion lands after a test flight in West Palm Beach, Fla. on March 22, 2017. Lockheed Martin announced the CH-53K King Stallion passed its Defense Acquisition Board assessment that approved for the aircraft to begin low-rate initial production on April 4, 2017. The CH-53K will be considered the most powerful helicopter in the Department of Defense and is scheduled to completely replace the CH-53E Super Stallion by 2030.

Early morning walk on the beach at Patalavaca, Gran Canaria. This is a natural (volcanic sand) beach which glitters in the sun from all that (I assume) mica. The next beach along (where the boats are pointing to) is a white sand man made job.
Mynydd Llanllwni ancient common land in Carmarthenshire, has been saved from development into a wind farm as the Welsh Assembly Government minister has refused planning
Not a bad place to leave your boat, taken at the Parrog, Newport, Pembrokeshire. Just a few more from this evening, I don't like to upload too many photos from the same place, but the Parrog is a bit special...

One more from yesterdays walk in the misty woods that I love... my mom and my boys. I love the pose, how she has her arms around them, keeping them safe.
Much more on my blog!
Todays shot will be posted later (still have to take it) ;)

Boudicca's officers and crew have delivered us to another delightful Port-of-Call - Valletta, Malta.
The wheat has been safely gathered in, leaving only the straw bales to be collected as East Midlands Trains Class 158 No. 158770 heads into the beautiful evening light on its approach towards Manea in Cambridgeshire with the 16:57 departure from Norwich to Manchester Piccadilly on Wednesday 19th September 2012.
Another shot from the archives. It was either this or more Tortoise Shieldbugs!
Safe and Legal would do nicely. Shame that the women of Ireland are still denied this right.
