Not for the wee boats , but for 'H' and I! Down here it can get pretty muddy and there's tales of sinking sands drilled into my head from childhood. A quick nip out for fresh air and sunset the other evening, but this was as far as I felt comfortable with 'H' on my own......we can safely do the little jump and a few muddy footsteps from the edge of the promenade - so this composition had to do!

We have a red weather warning here in the South of England this morning. Storm Eunace is one of the worst storms we have experienced in 30 years and we were being advised not to go out today. One gust of wind measured 122mph on the Isle of Wight: this was at The Needles, an exposed point at the western extremity of the island. The Isle of Wight is directly below us on the UK map.

Anyway all the cats are safely tucked up at home, along with Phill.

This song was written in 1991, and it sounds so premonitory for this pandemic age, but in fact, the liner notes to the Blue Lines album, it mention the movie Taxi Driver as an influence, and it's clear that the movie was inspiration for this song's lyrics. The movie stars Robert DeNiro as a paranoid Vietnam vet who drives a taxi at night. He becomes obsessed with saving a child prostitute played by Jodie Foster, and ends up killing some people in his efforts. The new fawns in spring are often left in my garden while their mother's browse for food. This little one has found a safe place hidden among my flowers until mom comes to fetch him/her.
