Using the yeast from the Laucke bread mix resulted in a dark rye loaf that didn't rise as much, and because we were out, the keep-warm function dried out the loaf.
a couple of weeks ago Rosalee and I went to the Belmont Bar and Grill in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to try their Friday Fish Dinner. It was some of the best fish I have had in a long time.
We went back tonight to have it again and found that it was quite good but not near as good as the other day.
I do not know if the difference was the time of day or just me. Rosalee thought it was just as good.
They offer a 3 piece dinner for $6.50 and a 5 piece for $8.00. Both dinners come with choice of potatoes which changes from week to week.
Also they both have Cole Slaw and rye bread and butter but the 5 piece also gets Apple Sauce and a second bread & butter sandwich.
All and all a pretty good meal for the money.

The blood pudding was quite different from black pudding, though; little spices, to speak of, and no bread crumbs to bind it. So, it was dried pigs' blood and fat loosely packed into a sausage casing (probably intestine, of course); I had trouble eating it, it just wasn't flavourful enough; it was kind of bland, and the texture was off-putting, even after I spread it on the bread.
I'll give this a miss, in future.
Shoulda had the roast pork, or other sausages, instead.

Sometimes for dinner you need some simple comfort food. We had a bowl of homemade matzo ball soup (with the chicken stock I made) and a homemade egg salad sandwich on some rye bread.
