In Finland the best rye breads are crust like this, unsweetened and crunchy. May favourite is to toast it and put some fresh vegetables and coconut cheddar cheese as toppings.
HMM
Wenn so etwas auf der Karte steht, muss es nicht viel mehr geben (na gut, vielleicht ein kühles Bier dazu)

If something like this is on the menu, there doesn't have to be much more (well, maybe a cold beer to go with it)
"Kvass is a traditional Slavic and Baltic fermented beverage commonly made from black or regular rye bread. The colour of the bread used contributes to the colour of the resulting drink. It may be flavoured with fruits such as strawberries and raisins, or with herbs such as mint."

It was just an ordinary morning, my lovely partner was out getting the mail, we live so secluded that we only get it once a week. And I was busy preparing our breakfast, homebaked ryebread and fruits, all of it of course organic, nothing but the best … and maybe a cake afterwards. But he sure didn’t look happy when he came with the mail...

From the bottom.
1.The boldest of all breads – German Pumpernickel – dense, bitter and nutty. It’s best eaten without any distractions to its flavour for example spreaded with peanut butter. Or for an amazing visual sensation – with Philadelphia cheese and chopped chives.
2.Lithuanian dark rye bread is also strong tasting. It goes well with cold meats and smoked fish.
3. Hovis brown bread – a wholemeal British classic. My personal preference is to have it with ham and mustard, but it is also great simply toasted and spread with butter.
4. Polish sourdough wheat & rye bread. It is best eaten as an open sandwich, topped for example with Edam or Gouda cheese and tomato.
5.Pitta bread filled with some falafels and a salad is a typical Israeli street food. The pocket has many uses. I like it with a scrambled egg inside.
6. The queen of all breads – a French baguette. A topping of soft cheese such as bree is an obvious choice, but it can also be eaten dipped in olive oil or with jam.
The top layer was originally crown shaped, but had to be scaled down. The whole tower is 7 cm tall. For Macro Mondays group.
Macro Mondays - 'refreshments' theme.
I have to admit that normally I'd reach for something sweet when wanting a quick snack but for this week's theme I've gone with savoury: creamy Lancashire cheese on German rye bread with sunflower seeds.

The recipe asked originally for cutting up the herring and mixing it in with the salad. I like it better this way - deconstructed :)

Barbera (redwinedrunken) on homemade Tartar sauce (without mayo), base is crispy rye bread from up north.
Good stuff.
Inspired by a challenge to incorporate the B&W techniques of world famous photographer Ansel Adams into my color photography.
HOW I DID THIS
To do so, this photo contains every B&W shade from pitch black to pitch white (look carefully). Likewise with the limited number of colors present following a similar gradient along their respective color scales.
COLOR PERSPECTIVE IN ANSEL ADAMS' TECHNIQUE
The Ansel Adams technique does not require employing every color in the rainbow because, after all, he worked in two monotones with unlimited shading and rich tones. His work inspires me to do this in color photography with one or more colors - or all if one can capture it.
THE RULE OF THIRDS
The Rule of Thirds is followed, beginning in the lower right and progressing along a diagonal to the upper left third. In those sectors the pitch black / pitch yellow BEGIN and traverse a gradient of scale to pitch white / beige-brown as an extreme of yellow hue, saturation, and gradient. Although the traditional Rule only requires focused subject in one 1/3 sector, it may serve to balance busy subjects by using two 1/3 sectors.

Girl serving plate with healthy breakfast or snack toasts: whole wheat rye bread, goat's cheese spread, chopped tomatoes and garnished with fresh green salad
We haven't bought a loaf of bread since January last year. I didn't set that as a goal. I just felt like making bread one day. 2013 was a stressful year. Baking bread gave me something I could control (well, kind of control) and a feeling of peace. Something so simple but turned out to be much more than just making bread.
