This light has always caught my eye, it's always glowing wonderfully whenever I sneak a peak at it. The home its by is around 110 years old giving the wall its aged feel.
Nas primeiras décadas do século XVII, na área do atual Templo existia um Nicho rústico, em que os mendigos costumeiramente faziam as suas orações. Em 1682, impressionados com o aumento da fé da população, os ermitões (devotos) de São Gonçalo Garcia construÃram uma Capela primitiva, no local em que hoje se encontra edificada a Igreja de São Gonçalo Garcia dos Homens Pardos...... O inÃcio dos trabalhos de edificação se deu ainda em 1758 e concluÃdos em 17591; como o terreno era pantanoso e a Igreja foi construÃda sobre um estrado de madeira (aroeira). Em seu Pórtico observamos a data de 1770, provavelmente época em que o mesmo foi concluÃdo e/ou reformado..... A Igreja de São Gonçalo Garcia dos Homens Pardos é uma obra de arte especial, destacando-se a excelente qualidade do trabalho de cantaria em seu FrontispÃcio, o qual é ricamente trabalhado em pedra com motivos barrocos. Os cortes de pequena profundidade lembram a ourivesaria, rendilhados em pedra calcária da região, estilo 2 D. MARIA I, com o frontão em linhas curvas e contra curvas, dentro de um traçado barroco.
