These images were made during a journey down Rustic Road 44 in Marinette County on June 24, 2017.
R-44, Right-of-Way Road, crosses two creeks and is adjacent to the Lake Noquebay State Wildlife
Area and Marinette County Forest land. R-44 was originally part of the Wisconsin-Michigan Railroad.
Wisconsin's Rustic Roads system was created to preserve many of the state's scenic, lightly traveled country roads. Features of Rustic Roads include rugged terrain, native vegetation and wildlife, or open areas with agricultural vistas.

This summer I made a few kanzashi for fellow park staff. This is one that I made in October. The lighting on the window sill looked so lovely on it - and it looked so rustic next to the woodgrain and random elastic bands.

Rustic Baubles
These truly stunning bauble bundles make unique and beautiful Christmas decorations. Each bundle is made up of 6 baubles, all hand made from recycled glass and tied together with recycled 'Kantha' saris.
All Nkuku glass is 100% recycled. This not only saves energy (50% less energy than that required to make new glass) but is an ongoing process, as glass can be recycled continually. This means we can create new beautiful and useful objects with less impact on our environment.
Nkuku Rustic Baubles
Size: Each Bauble approx 6cm
Colour: Antique Silver

Did You Know?
- Originally christmas Trees were decorated with apples, strings of popcorn, white candy canes and pastries in the shapes of stars, hearts and flowers.
- Glass baubles were first made in Lauscha, Germany, by Hans Greiner who produced garlands of glass beads similar to the popcorn strands and tin figures that could be hung on trees.
- The Polish name for baubles is 'bombka' which translates as 'a little bomb'.
Thanks, as always, to Wikipedia for these little nuggets of information
Various rustic benches are scattered throughout the gardens - all interesting in shape and texture.

The house I am staying at in South Africa has a thatched roof and much of the woodwork is made from rustic pine logs. It looks pretty good in the sunlight.
