212_365 Road runner. This cute little guy with the mohawk came to visit our yard today. He came to get water that we have on the patio for the birds in a dog bowl which is close to our window and the dogs barked and barked at him and scared him away. I hope he comes back tomorrow.

Fascinating subject. First of all I noticed he was barefoot running in the park on a cool night. Second he had on a green shirt and that photographs well at the park. Third he seemed so at home and free in the park not like me. I am carrying a backpack with lenses, filters, etc and a camera around my neck, yet he is without any belongings.
This newly-restored E6s steam locomotive, in the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, is known as the "Lindbergh Locomotive." According to information provided by the museum:
On June 11, 1927, Charles Lindbergh arrived in Washington, D.C. to an enormous celebration of his solo, nonstop flight across the Atlantic. Films of the festivities were taken by several companies and rushed to New York City to be shown in the movie theatres. Most of these were films were flown, but one company (The International News Reel Corporation) had this locomotive waiting with fire in its belly and it raced the films to NYC at speeds of up to 115 mph. Even so, it was beaten by an airplane. However, those sneaky people at INR processed their film en-route, and showed theirs first in theaters since the ones arriving by plane had to be developed after arrival.
From other reading, I remember that the Summer of 1927 was an interesting time: almost simultaneously with Lindbergh's flight, President Calvin Coolidge disappeared into the Black Hills of South Dakota and wasn't seen or heard from in Washington for 3 months. Ah, those were the days!
After seeing Cooper Smith's visualizations of data from runners in New York City, I wanted to see what similar data sets would look like for other cities. Nike+ doesn't have public GPS logs, but MapMyRun does, if you are willing to spend several hours clicking through search results to hit the "Download" buttons, so that's what I did to get the tracks for these 771 runs (from June 13 through August 9) in San Francisco.
As Open Source Planning has pointed out, uploaded runs come from a fairly small, self-selected group of people, the most obvious result of which is the total absence of the southeastern corner of the city from this map. It is also a very self-conscious process, so it is biased toward intentional, and often intentionally difficult, trips made for their own sake, and away from the repetitive patterns of everyday life.
Unfortunately the MapMyRun tracklogs do not have date and time stamps, so it is not possible to do the time of day, pace, and interruption analyses that Cooper Smith did. I should have done direction of travel, though.

This is a photograph from the 35th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 21st June 2014 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged in the running community as one of the best races in Ireland. It is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Then this year the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year. The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Well done to all.

The explaination is very simple.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
