I have a rule - here on Flickr I only post pictures I took myself. No shots of me or anyone else taken by someone else (those go on another site). Except for this one. I love this shot enough to post it here, and I don't even know why. It reminds me of those 50's shots where the women wore Chanel suits and drank martinis and rooms were filled with smoke. None of that is happening here (we were drinking shots of tequila and vodka and smoking is not allowed in most places anymore). But, I had my makeup done by a real makeup artist and I look just like my mother and I'm wearing an outrageously expensive dress that I will hand down to my daughters (ha!) and I'm surrounded by two really great girlies and I've never felt more glamoursly slutty and this is a moment of a night that I want to remember.

The British decimal fifty pence (50p) coin – pronounced "fifty pee" – was issued on 14 October 1969 in the run-up to decimalisation to replace the ten shilling note. Up to 2008 there have been eighteen varieties of 50p coin, six large and twelve small. The original reverse of the coin, designed by Christopher Ironside, depicted a seated Britannia alongside a lion. The symbol of Britannia has appeared on our coinage since 1672.

A very typical rule of composition in photography is the "rule of third", in landscape, that is the horizon should either be at 1/3 or 2/3 of the frame so that the composition is more balanced. However, the rule did not seems to work when I looked through the viewfinder when taking this frame. I ended up with the horizon in the middle.

An early casual visit to our usual battleground -- Tanjung Balau with 2 of my buddies. The sky surprised us with little light rays~

i was criticized once for a bad composition where a body part was cut off in an image. i think about that just about every time i show a client an image now... no matter how great the shot... it sucks sometimes... but i think it is a good rule.... it's made me a better photographer anyway.

Took photo of friend using the rule of thirds method by not putting her in center of photo but off to the side instead. Not as far over as I would have liked.
