I was sitting at my desk when I heard our resident Magpie pair in the Pine tree, as the sun was shining I went out to get some photos.

She sat like she owned the street—boots planted, skirt defiant, gaze somewhere between now and nevermind. Cologne passed behind her in bottles and shadows, but she held her pose as if waiting for a story to catch up.

A Greater Roadrunner spreads its wings to absorb some warmth from the morning sun after a chilly desert night.

We had good roadrunner karma over the last couple of weeks in southern Arizona...always enjoyable to observe them scampering around among the cacti doing their best to avoid being photographed.

This is detail of the center of a gladiola taken this past summer. The brilliant pink was such a lovely color on these graceful stalks. I love the purple edging on the pollen.
