This scrub jay is another capture from the cold day where the birds would just let me approach and stay where they were. It was windy and cold, which helped them make the decision to wait me out!

I was watching a Kingfisher when all of sudden this Osprey flies in and claims the tree sending the Kingfisher flying off to find a new perch. I didn't mind the trade off.

With the usual stern expression of raptors on its face you might be forgiven to think that someone ruffled this black kite's feathers, but it was actually just a gust of wind that ruined its formerly immaculate appearance. ;o)

I made this for my niece for graduating from Tulane Law School. It was about 17" tall. I covered a white ceramic cake plate pedestal with black fondant so it would look like the base of the mannequin. The torso is sculpted RKTs. I was sad that the ruffle didn't match, but I ran out of time. The cake was white on bottom and chocolate on top, all filled with fresh cookies 'n cream filling. Dress was Choco-Pan. Thanks for looking!

pink peonies

Great Egret (Ardea alba) ruffling its feathers. Wetlands Park at Riverstone, Sugar Land, Texas.

Red shouldered hawk shaking off some harassment by the local robins.

A little breeze at just the right moment ruffled the normally perfect feathers of this Silver Gull.

White-faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) juvenile

I was able to make a quick visit to the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands and was thrilled to see a lot of juvenile birds around. This Heron was quite amusing to watch as it was trying to imitate Mum feeding.
