The Ruby Range is a mountain range in Madison and Beaverhead counties Montana. The range lies east of Dillon and southwest of Sheridan. The highest point, Ruby Peak with an elevation of 9,391 feet, lies in the northeast portion of the range.
The Rubies are dry mountains, so springs are few. The terrain is steep, especially in the northern end, with more than half the land above 8,000 feet. This causes trees to be stunted in the shallow soils. Despite this, forest cover is extensive, with Douglas-fir, lodgepole pine, and spruce common, while the highest slopes are home to vast stands of pure limber pine intermixed with small parks, a habitat type found more commonly far to the south. Other features of the Rubies include free-standing rock walls, caves, cliffs, and talus. Wildlife includes a few elk, a large mule deer herd and excellent blue grouse habitat.(Source: Wikipedia)
Spent a bit of time with my girl Ruby, Ruby beach that is. Dene was a sweetheart and stayed another evening before her long drive home so we could splash around in Ruby's puddles. The light just barely did a show for us well after sunset.

This winter, at both EBI and Granite City Blues Presents Livin' the Blues, I had the good fortune to hang out and befriend the amazing Justin and Ruby.
Not only are they awe-inspiring dancers, incredible teachers and never off the social dancefloor...they're just fantastic people.

A ruby tiger is a small fat pink moth, Phragmatobia fuliginosa to its friends. As its name suggests, it's part of the tiger moth family, whose beautiful colours put many of our day-flying butterflies to shame.
Ruby tigers in the north of England are often darker than their southern relatives, and there is even a rare yellow variety.
It feeds on dock, dandelion, plantain and golden-rod and is at home in many different habitats, from moors and rough hillsides to water meadows and gardens.
East side (away from the setting sun). The deep ruby red looks better away from the sun. The sun was creating a yellowish cast which drained out some of the deep, rich red.

This painted barn must be a brand new advertisement for Ruby Falls. I found this barn on Google Maps street view, and from there, the barn does not appear to be painted when the picture was taken in 2009.
