The 40a was a rather obscure Mon-Fri only service between Herne Hill and Poplar/North Woolwich. It was never supposed to have RTs on it and it was completely withdrawn in 1978. This is the unlovely Poplar stand, above the Blackwall Tunnel entrance.

Another refurbished RT - No. 2544 arrives at the terminus at Becontree Heath on route 150 on 25/4/72. This route went OMO in Oct'76. The result of the building work shown in the preceding shots can now be seen.

For my last 2010 upload I am returning to my first location. Here is Romford Market Place (St.Edwards Church) on a quiet Sunday, 17/3/68. RT1619 (KLB741) is at the stop for route 87. These were the days before ring roads and traffic-free areas - soon Romford was to lose its Market Town atmosphere under the heavy hand of the London Borough of Havering.

A surprise visitor was RT 1018 on training duties. The learner was obviously not risking the penalty of buying the teas by hitting the kerb!

NBC-liveried RT 604 awaits its next duty in the late afternoon sun outside Rickmansworth station.

The Robo Team is a series of small, Lego minifigure scale robots. The Blacktron robot overlord Kratos is a powerful foe of the Robo Team. He has superior strength and intelligence, but most of all he possesses all the knowledge and memories of Maximus the Destroyer, founder and first Emperor of the Blacktron Galactic Empire.

And that was it, end of service. The bus survives in East Sussex.

RT seats had many uses. This bus wasn't due out for a while, hence the seat on the platform.

With the impending removal of RTs from Catford and Bromley garages south-east London came in for a bit of attention.

Monday morning on the way to work on Long Beach Island. It had stopped raining but the road was still wet and the sun light breaking thru the clouds in spots made the road shine on this long, straight stretch of 539.
