My BMW R80 RT recently sold on ebay - it has a brand new MOT - no work was required.
So that's what BMW stands for.
Here we have a cab view of the controls the operator would use to operate RT 18.
The two centre handles control the braking, while the smaller joystick on the right with the red button on it (horn) controls the acceleration of the train.
RT 1 (EYK 396) at Holborn, opposite former Prudential Assurance building.
This bus carries the first RT body, built in 1939. The original chassis was broken up for spares in 1945, and the body was later placed on a post-war chassis, and ended up in use as a mechanical instruction unit.
It was rescued and restored, resuming the identity of RT 1, in time for the 1979 celebrations of the last RTs running in regular passenger service.

RT 994 (CM) is seen at the other end of the 403 shortly after departing from Warlingham Park Hospital. Thursday 9th December 1976. 3K-7.
RT604 in Dorking, September 2000. The bus is an AEC Regent III with Weymann body and was new in 1948.
Route 228 was replaced between Surrey Docks and Eltham by alterations to the 108 group in October 1968, thus reverting to its original route, Eltham to Chislehurst. RT 3283 (SP) stops at Frognal Corner, Sidcup on Thursday 18th April 1974.RT operation on route 228 ceased on 21st May 1977 when RMs replaced them. N-1.
In the tender vehicle parking area was RT 604, still with LCBS at the time. Next to it is RT 1400 which now resides in France.
Caught on the last day of RTs in service, RT 2370 a Bow (BW) trainer is in Longbridge Road, Barking joining in the celebrations. Saturday 7th April 1979. 4Z-6.
