After school, a cuddle for Roxy. Roxy has a lovely temperament and often an expression like this will settle back into peace and not become a . . . Roxy doesn't seem to cry, she has a high pitch squawk which is bird--like.

No drawings today. Apparently Roxy has a project to complete by Thursday . . . I never quite got to the bottom of what it was, because the enormity of responsibility and a slight feeling of horror overcame me . . . possibly something about aerodynamics. Abby had given us a good start by drawing a dragon fly, leaving us with glue, some lovely materials and glitter. And then she went back to her work in the loft and left me with a very determined Roxy . . . I think it is fair to say that we left the project in a state that would just about pass muster at school, but if it had a bit of mummy's artistic attention it would be much better!
It has taken a long time and effort to put this up. Thankfully, Max and Jane are due to put me and my laptop straight tomorrow!

imagine Abby's surprise when she looked up from the kitchen sink to see Roxy in the air! Roxy is just 3 and seems to be following in Elsie's footsteps or should it be wings. It's odd that Ben is a cyclist, Abby is a swimmer and the two girls have taken to the air . . .

This is Roxy, the horse, rearing. Obviously getting in as much practice as she can since she wants to be a horse when she grows up!

I had my first Roxy day today. Abby is still breastfeeding, so this means that I entertain Roxy when she's awake and when she starts to fidget with her eyes try to help her go to sleep. Abby, in the meantime, works up in her attic studio. Roxy had 3 jabs yesterday, was a little grumpy today, but all in all she seemed to respond to the strange woman with specs!
So far I have maintained a distance from Roxy, because of sensitivity for Elsie. Now I'm embarking on the best of both worlds . . . wish me luck when they collide!

Roxy's strong will is apparent much of the time at home. After school her tolerance levels are quite low, just at the moment that Elsie's freedom from school seems to elevate her mood and cross Roxy's path! And yesterday in the garden Roxy came over for a post meltdown cuddle. (Sorry, I refuse to tell a 5 year old that she can't have a cuddle) I said to her - this must be very difficult for you, having been so good all day at school and then when you come home to find you are the littlelest and still people are telling you what to do! And true to form - she wanted to play schools - she wants to be the teacher, to take control and have some power . . . I remember this so well with Elsie years ago.

We tried to make Roxy a snuggly bed in the shade by the shed for an afternoon nap. The duvet and cushions and blanket were far more appealing, however, to Elsie, who lay down and looked prepared to snooze. In the end Roxy chose to nap in her buggy, a more familiar place to kip. We had a lovely day.

tomorrow we are going to south London to visit Paolo and Becca in their new home in south London - /www.flickr.com/photos/verdigrisjane/albums/72157634726215308 - and their daughter, little E.
On Monday we are picking up Elsie from school and spending the evening in east London celebrating Peter's birthday (now past)
On Tuesday we are going to Glouceste to visit my brother and Peter's sister and partner and having and evening meal with them . . .

This is my lil Roxy girl. She is almost 6 yrs old. She is my little teddy bear. She is a Maltese and Pomeranian cross ( her dad was a tiny pure bred Maltese)She is our other little dog, Maggie Muggins, half sister. They had the same dad.She is my little heart dog..my shadow. She follows me every where. She even has to be in the washroom when I am bathing. She just lays on the floor mat and waits for me to get out.I know I am not supposed to have favorites ..but sshhhhhh...she is mine.The other dogs each have a kennel of their own and they sleep in them.Not Roxy...she sleepson the bed. She is super cuddly with me and tolerates other people. Both her and Maggie go to a doggy spa for grooming and they are due to go on the 25th. They do a teddy bear cut on her. She really needs to have a grooming but thought I would share some photos of her today. :)

Abby and the girls are going camping in Dorset with a friend of Abby's and her daughters. Are you all sleeping in the big tent, I asked. Apparently the two Mums and little ones are sleeping in the big tent . . . and the giggling hyenas are in the small tent!
Going to a neighbour's bbq tomorrow night. Back soon . ..

for the next few weeks my Elsie and Roxy days are topsy turvy. Abby has a large design project in progress and my garden is also in progress.

Abby said that Ben had dressed Roxy and had put her dress on back to front (as seen in pic) . . . which is now a new baby fashion, because I turned the dress round after her lunch, which meant the front of her dress was then clean for the afternoon. Good, eh?
I have a cold and have had a Bourbon to make me temporarily better. The decorating is finished and looks great - despite the fretting builder who said the sun hadn't shone today. And what has that to do with it? Well, apparently it will show up any little imperfection which can then be put right. I jest not. What a great man! Had a lovely day with Roxy, despite her teething. I have taught her alliterations - biting bunny's bottom badly . . . a side effect of teething . . .

Roxy needed a little persuading to have her photo taken - she took me out into the garden which was fortuitous because it started to rain and we were able to bring the washing in, even before Abby yelled from the loft that it was raining! And so we landed up in the kitchen and then by the front door. She was her usual whirlwind self.

we picked up Roxy from school (Elsie has a two week half term and she was staying with a friend). Roxy decided she'd like her photo taken doing aerial splits on the equipement in the garden. I did warn her that her school uniform was frevealing flying skirt and knickers . . . thus they will not be appearing here. Stella was quite accommodting as she jumped about tugging on Roxy's skirt, although Roxy told her to stop!
Originally built as an Opera House in 1906, the Roxy Theatre in Neepawa MB has seen it's share of activity and change throughout the years. No longer viable as just a theater and in bad need of repair, the residents of Neepawa banded together in late 80's to purchase and restore the facility. Community owned and volunteer operated is, what I believe, the real success story behind this grand old structure.
And you might have guessed, as a teenager, I watched many shows from the balcony of this fine theatre.
Leeton, NSW
This heritage listed art deco theatre was opened on 7 April 1930 purely for use as a cinema. In 1933 a stage was added and it was officially opened by Australia's most famous and internationally celebrated singer of that time, Gladys Moncrief, known affectionately as "Our Glad".
Since 1933 the theatre has operated continuously providing both film and live entertainment to residents of Leeton and the surrounding area. The Roxy film screen is one of the largest roll-up mechanized screens in Australia measuring approximately 16 metres wide by 8 metres high.
