Sunda Kelapa port. Boat workers are cleaning the crevices between the woods and putty for water sealing. Not much dry dock. The tide is raising but there’s about 3 metres of hull submerged there. 900 tonnes weight class wooden ship. Too bad many seems to already lost the skill to manage sails.

My routine, every single day, no matter what the weather, is to take Abby and Zoe for a walk. Rain, shine, minus 40, snowstorm, doesn't matter. We always go. This is our usual trail through the bush - the girls love it as they get to run as much as they want. Weekdays we have to walk it in the dark with a flashlight, since the walk has to get squeezed in before work. The girls enjoy it every single day, I enjoy it some days more than others. Yesterday morning was perfect, even though Zoe does look a bit sad at the amount of snow still on the ground. She knows that if she steps off the trail that Ian packs for me with his snowmobile, she will pretty much disappear. And that's not going to improve much over the next 24 hours, as we have a winter (spring?) storm warning, and the promise of another 30 cm of snow. Spring appears to be
cancelled this year.
If it's one thing I hate it's shaving my head. It's better than the alternative of having hair just on the sides of my head but it's just so tedious. Rather than just complaining about it I decided to create a painting inspired by one of my least favorite activities. Created in ArtRage for iPad.
Ptolemaic Kings of Egypt, Ptolemy III, for the Deified Arsinoe II, 246-221 BC, Dekadrachm
35.58g. Svoronos-961, pl. XXVIII, 25-6. Posthumous issue probably struck under Ptolemy III for the deified Arsinoe II. Obverse: Veiled head of deified Arsinoe right with ram's horn, in stephane, transverse scepter in background, B monogram behind. Reverse: ΑΡΣΙΝΟΗΣ-ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟΥ, filleted double cornucopia. Extremely beautiful dekadrachm with natural patina and complete absence of the normal heavy corrosion and extensive pitting and planchet breaks that these coins are routinely subjected to. A wonderful example. Ex Gemini I, 1/11/2005, #250. About Extremely Fine

As part of her daily routine, street-artist Casey Sun sold a custom made, New-York-themed, banner to a visiting student on Friday, March 14th, 2014. Casey creates these pieces of art daily on the streets of Times Square, and has been doing so for the past 10 years. She believes that she is "living the American Dream." Street vendors can be seen throughout New York, selling a range of goods such as food, clothing, and art.

Alta Bates Summit RNs Warn Staffing Shortages Pose Increasing Risk for Oakland, Berkeley
Registered nurses at Sutter’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center hold a press conference Thursday outside the hospital’s Oakland facility to alert the public to an escalating crisis in safe patient care because of chronic short staffing that RNs say is ignored by hospital management.
Over the past year alone, Alta Bates Summit RNs have submitted to hospital managers some 500 reports of what they say are unsafe assignments required of the RNs. Yet hospital officials routinely ignore the problems and fail to fix the problems that are now widespread affecting units throughout the Oakland and Berkeley hospitals, RNs note.
To some
routine is unbearable
because it is boring
Look carefully
and you will see
that boredom
does not come from routine itself
Never stop looking
what you think you know already
Be present
every time
Routine ?
------
Pour certains
la routine est insupportable
parce qu'elle est ennuyeuse
Mais regardez bien
et vous verrez
que l'ennui
ne provient jamais de la routine elle-même
N'arrêtez jamais de regarder
ce que vous pensez déjà connaître
Soyez présent
tout le temps
La routine ?
I'm probably going to jinx myself by typing this but it feels like we're falling into a routine!
And I am starting to feel like myself again.
I knew something was up when I didn't feel like picking up Alixe. I didn't feel like taking a shower. Or I didn't feel like baking. Very much not like me to feel like not doing anything. I knew what the problem was: the lack of sleep.
And speaking of routines, Alixe has still hung on to her midnight crazy time but it's not lasting as long as it did a month ago. It's the weirdest thing but every night at midnight she wakes up and cries. And like clock work as I uploaded this photo right before midnight when the clock hit 00:00, I heard her stir and cry out. I've stopped trying to understand and just know that at midnight this is Alixe's time and I'm ready and AWAKE to deal.
But we've had almost a full week of pretty good sleeping. Enough for me to catch up and start to feel better. The migraine are gone. I'm taking a daily vitamin regiment that seems to be doing it's job and I cut out diary and I have seen a noticeable difference in Alixe. Will this mean she will be intolerant to lactose? Gosh, I hope not.
And I know this is actually three photos for today only because I started playing around in photoshop making collages and I just couldn't stop. I had a hard time getting the photos exposed correctly because I'm not working with natural light. I have got to say taking photos with natural light is SO MUCH EASIER.
Day 292 ~ Morning Routine
Tuesday, October 18th, 2016
My children like routine and usually have the same exact thing for breakfast every single day. I thought when they’re grown up, they might like to see what they ate when they were 15 and 12. Anna has Nutrigrain waffles with organic peanut butter and low-sugar grape jelly with chocolate almond milk. Dominic has Nutrigrain waffles with either turkey sausage or turkey bacon and Ovaltine chocolate milk. Anna gets up at 6:30 and Dominic gets up at 6:45. Anna’s bus comes at 7:10 and Dominic’s bus comes at 7:30. Here I have Anna’s breakfast prepared along with her backpack while Dominic’s is prepped to make.

The Vegas Tourist attended the Lady Luck Invitational Gymnastics, which was hosted by Brown's Gymnastics, and held at the South Point Casino from January 15 to 17, 2010.
This was a very busy event, bustling with coaches and students all striving for the medal or trophy to show they are the best. There were three different areas set up with a Vault, Balance Beam, Uneven Bars, and a location for Floor Routines.
It was amazing to watch the young ladies who were very focused and determined. Here at The Vegas Tourist we can only reflect on what it was like to be that young, flexible, and fearless.

Routines are a daily reminder that regularity matters.
Coffee for example.
Every day I wake up and have coffee at the same time.
If I don’t I might be reminded with a slight headache.
That is your body reminding you that the caffeine and the first sip matter in the routine.
Waking up the same time every day too.
You might have a vacation coming up and even if the alarm isn’t set your internal clock is.
Anyone of you with sleep wake cycles.
You can wake up in the middle of the night and usually its spot on at the same time.
When something new approaches to the pattern of the old routine, things get disrupted and in some cases anxiety can sit in.
Entering a new phase can been exciting for some and jarring for others.
It depends on how you approach it.
Will you learn something new and for that matter will you learn something new about yourself?
That is where you gather the firewood and strength to keep the things burning and ideas sparking.
Routine does matter but switching it up is just as important.
Breaking things up a little helps for growth.
I’ll leave the coffee reminder alone though.
That routine or ritual starts the day off just right with a sip that can help any new cycle.
