NASA’s Artemis I flight test is the first integrated test of the agency’s deep space exploration systems: the Orion spacecraft, SLS rocket, and supporting ground systems.

 

ESA’s European Service Module will be powering the Orion spacecraft to our natural satellite and back.

 

The European Service Module – or ESM – provides for all astronauts’ basic needs, such as water, oxygen, nitrogen, temperature control, power and propulsion. Much like a train engine pulls passenger carriages and supplies power, the European Service Module will take the Orion capsule to its destination and back.

The Rocket Center is a strip mall at 584 Court Street (U.S. Route 11), east of Binghamton, New York. This sign is a great example of Populuxe/Raygun Gothic. Today, this area is something like a vice district, with three strip clubs and a sleazy motel in close proximity.

Most of the vapor trail is high enough it's still lit up by the sun - including the lowest part, which is clearly reddened!

 

The bright spot in the middle of the frame, below the trail, is Venus. The one in the thicker part is the previous stage after separation.

 

Probably launched from Vandenberg, judging by the trajectory, and probably SpaceX, based on the fact that they seem to do a lot more launches than anyone else these days.

The Rocketeer opened twenty years ago today. To celebrate one of my favorite films, I created this photo to look like a late 1930’s slide. I envision a photographer looking outside a passenger plane window taking photos of the clouds. Suddenly, a mysterious figure jet packs into view and click-snap, this photo is created.

 

Long live the Rocketeer and big thanks to the late great Dave Stevens for creating one of the best comic book adventure heroes!

Maybe the last usable shot from my day trip to see a shuttle launch. I might have gotten carried away on the color enhancement for the sky, but it felt right at the time.

 

This is, I believe, an Atlas rocket with an Agena package on top of it, for putting satellites up during the Mercury program era.

 

To the left, just above the palm/palmetto tree, is the top of an Atlas rocket with a Mercury capsule on it.

L-3: Our Soyuz rocket with the spacecraft inside is rolled out to the launchpad. The system to keep it upright is ingeniously simple. By using counterweights the rocket is held upright but the slightest force (such as liftoff) pushes the supports out of the way, no complicated electronics required! Did you ever wonder how a launch time is recorded? Easy, the rocket is standing on a large switch, as soon as it is depressed (i.e. we are launched) the time is recorded and we have a launch time!

 

L-3 : Transfert de la fusée jusqu’au pas de tir. Ça a l’air impressionnant, mais le système pour la faire tenir à la verticale n’a rien de compliqué : on utilise tout simplement des contrepoids. Pas besoin non plus d’électroniques sophistiquées pour dégager la voie à la fusée lors du lancement, la force du décollage suffisant largement pour faire basculer les structures de soutien en arrière. Comment arrive-t-on à connaître l’heure exacte du décollage ? Là aussi, c’est facile : la fusée est installée sous une sorte de grand bouton-poussoir qui est relâché quand elle décolle, ce qui déclenche l’enregistrement de l’heure du lancement.

This rocket is a weird mishmash of Dragon, Orion, and the SLS. Also, I got some space type lighting here but the docking ring rendered funny and my black background didn't happen.

I was lost and looking for inspiration, so I decided to base Day 15 entirely on AWESOME

Rocket bank from my childhood. Missing one red rubber foot cap and the red rubber "needle" that once adorned the nose.

 

My mom was cleaning out stuff and gave me my rocket bank and the one belonging to my sister. My Dad brought them back from Houston, TX in the mid-1960s, at the height of the Space Race as presents.

The original Rocket locomotive, built by George Stephenson in 1829, is now on public display in Station Hall at the National Railway Museum in York.

Donald Harcourt De Lue (1897 – 1988)

De Lue studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and later served as an assistant to sculptors Richard Recchia and Robert P. Baker. This was followed by five years in Paris where he continued his study, while working as an assistant to various French artists.

A heavy Imperial Rocketeer common among the ranks of the Imperial Airborne Corp. The rocketeer is another wearer of the "tin can" helmet popular among Jumper pilots.

 

Just a quick fig I made from some parts lying around.

The rocket has largely remained uneaten by the slugs.Though some of the leaves do have nibble marks.

While not the first steam locomotive, the Rocket constructed by Robert Stephenson in 1829 combined several innovations that lead to the steam locomotives eventual breaktrought, shaping both the develpments in the world of transport and the world as a whole. These innovations include the multi-tubular boiler and the use of a seperate fire box.

 

Rocket was built as a prototype, built to compete in the 1829 Rainhill Trial in which it was successfully able to prove that locomotives (rather than stationary locomobiles) could be used to reliably haul carriages. Todays preserved Rocket is, however, quite different to its original design as over the years, further innovations were included in the locomotive, e.g. near horizontal cylinders.

 

In 1830 Rocket entered service with the Liverpool and Machester Railway, the first inter-city railway in the world, where it remained in service until 1834. In 1837 it was acquired by Brampton Railway to haul mineral trains, a task for which the locomotive proved to light. In 1862 it was donated to Patent Office Museum (now the Science Museum) and is currently on display at York.

Me divertí mucho haciendo este trabajo, esta inspirado un poco en el trabajo de mi sensei silvia cordero vega sobre las letras dibujadas. Ella es una continua inspiracion y una persona a la cual admiro mucho. Además estas letras estan tomadas de una cancion de goldfrapp que se llama rocket, espero que les guste.
