Found this in the archives. Last summer I did a Denver architecture tour and this was in the garden of an artist's studio. Ain't it sweet ?

Tonight the Rocket Summer played a "secret' Myspace show at the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta w/ Cartel. I'm so glad I went, seeing The Rocket Summer 2 times in the span of 4 days is pretty awesome.

Edinburgh's Scott Monument, also known as the Gothic Rocket, from the first floor balcony.

The Scott Monument was built to commemorate Sir Walter Scott, one of Scotland's greatest novelists. The Foundation stone was laid on 15 August 1840 (the anniversary of Scott's birthday) and was completed in Autumn 1844. It is 200 feet 6 inches (61.1 metres) high, is made of Binny sand-stone from West Lothian, and cost just over £16,154 (approx. £712,000 today). There are 287 steps to the top where there are magnificent views of Edinburgh and beyond.

The large statue of Scott at the base of the monument in Italian Carrara marble was sculpted by Sir John Steell.

There are 64 statues on the monument, mostly characters from Scott's novels; the other figures are from Scottish history.

My wife took this picture on my sons's birthday party. I think, it was a perfect moment.

I have taken some nice pictures on my son's birthday party, but I don't want to publish pictures of other people's kids.

The rocket is launched electrically and can be used several times. The solid-fuel engine can be replaced and will carry the rocket 250m high. Then thecapsule will separate and the body will descend on a little parachute. The capsule comes down on a long red ribbon. It is real fun and the kids like to count down (the whole village could hear that, I think). We didn't have enough solid-fuel engins for everybody to press the start button, but that didn't really matter.

Pour les cinéphiles :)

I've been drawing illustrations of various launch vehicles for a project I'm working on. They are roughly to scale and include (left-to-right): Ariane 5, Atlas V, Delta II, Delta IV, Falcon 9, HII B, Long March 3B, Pegasus, Proton-M, PSLV, Soyuz-U and Vega.

This rocket engine powered Germany's V-2 "Vengeance Weapon" during World War II. The engine was a technical achievement, using high-speed pumps to move large volumes of fuel into the thrust chamber very quickly. Its design also contributed to American rocketry following WWII.

The V-2's liquid oxygen and alcohol propellants produced a thrust of 56,000 pounds, giving the rocket a maximum range of 220 miles, a ceiling of 50-60 miles and a speed of 3,400 mph. Germany made about 6,000 V-2s during 1944-1945 and launched more than 2,600 against London, Antwerp, Liege, Brussels, Paris and Luxembourg.

I laughed so hard!! Now the quality of this photo isn't real great. I snapped this pic as these birds went after Rocket...he wasn't near their nest...he was way over by us. These birds came over and started dive bombing him and he took off after them, as they led him on a wild goose chase! LOLOLOLOL!!!! We finally retrieved Rocket and went on our business!!! :)

Dame's Rocket attracting A Butterfly with it's delicious fragrance. Also known as Dame’s or sweet rocket, dame’s or damask violet, rogue’s or queen’s gilliflower, vesper flower, mother-of-the-evening. It grows in purple or white. Dame’s rocket is a food source for caterpillars and a nectar source for butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds. Many people enjoy eating young dame’s rocket leaves in salads for their bitter tang, similar to arugula. The sprouted seeds, are also edible. In the Victorian “language of flowers”, dame’s rocket symbolized deceit because it is fragrant in the evening but scentless, or nearly so, during the day. Dame’s rocket has been used medicinally to induce sweating, promote urination, and loosen a cough.

Elsie and I played schools in her bedroom and continued rocket making. Light was poor and Elsie certainly wasn't sitting for any photos, I just had to grab any chance that came up.

Another little fellow from "Better Tomorrow".

Also, I finally started posting on my instructables account.
