The rig is based on Brooxes Utility Frame, the one that is used for the BEAK.
This rig uses 2 standard servos (one of them is modified for endless rotation), a standard R/C system, a gentLED Duo for shutter and zoom and a gent360 Anti Creep. The only special component is a 7.4 V lithium Polymer battery and its voltage converter.
Weight: only 333 grams (0.7 lbs).
Nearly finished rigging my character now. I looked at using the famous Norman rig off the internet but I was wasting too much time trying to figure out how to rearrange it to work with my character so I scrapped that and started building one of my own. Had some issues with connecting some controls but was helped by James, thanks mate. Trying to get ready to rough out the animation by early next week.
The rig was my home for 2 x 2 weeks during October and November 2005. It was a semisubmersible rig, a bit larger than the rigs I have worked on in the North Sea. The "tower" is the derick where the drill pipe is stored when it is not in hole.
The rig during the Audio Event included a DIY Yasui Preamp, Yasui Power Amps, Kinoshita DAC, GRIMM Audio Master Clock, top of the line Sony SACD player, Nothingham Spacedeck Player with Morch arm, Skala and Denon cartridges, Lyra Erodion stepup transformer, vintage Marantz 7C preamp, Kaneda Phono Amp, Loricraft phono amp (broken), Marantz 2 Power Amps, full pooged Assemblage Dac 2.0, 2.7 and 3.0, and Limited Edition Sonics Allegreto speakers ... and a Kawai baby grand :-)
Could barely see this object in the ocean. Took a shot thru a type of plexi-glass tarp covering the windows to keep the sea spray out. Had to edit to see anything...
It's an oil rig out in the ocean off the coast of California.
One of the only issues with this rig is the lens interference on the ground. In the case of a hard impact, I need to swing the camera to horizontal, or I will hit the lens. For the record, I try very very hard not to have hard landings. And when I bring a rig down I always park it in the air in front of me, and bring it down by hand. No hard impacts, please!
This was todays project. The goal...to make a rig for my old Point and Shoot camera so that I could fly it from my kite and get some aerial shots. This is what came up with after a little research and work.

Here's my first rig for autoKAP with Nikon's new lightweight SLR. It's essentially a Brooxes Basic KAP Kit combined with the BEAK, plus 1:1 gearing. See my Kits & Bits page.
This one weighs in at 1020g (2.25 lb) ready to fly, using the so-called kit lens (18-55mm).

The Blackford Dolphin oil rig was built in Norway in 1974, and came to Belfast in November 2013 for a major upgrade and repair at Harland and Wolff. Illuminated and in residence over the Christmas period it has been dubbed Belfast's Unofficial Christmas Tree (www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/business/news/harland-wolffs-m...)
