The incredible variations in the pigmentation of Faversham's Early Purple Orchids, from near white (A true non-pigmented species does exist, var. alba) light pinks, commonly seen around the south of Faversham and a true rich purple, all seen in a single small spinney just outside Stalisfield this afternoon, nature is fab!

This shot is a signature angle of my friend and talented photographer Rich Hover, who graciously gave me directions on where to find it. Getting this scene for myself has long been on my wish list, and I'm glad I finally made it happen....it for sure won't be the only time!

Viewed from Summit Ave., CSXT train B780 (empty ethanol from Oak Island to the UP in Proviso), led by a UP SD70ACe/ES44AC duo, seems to be floating over the rooftops as it sails northbound over the massive 1222 ft long trestle crossing high above Catskill Creek. Located at about MP 110.3 on modern day CSXT's busy River Sub mainline, the once double tracked trestle was built by the West Shore Railroad (a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Central System) in 1902. Spanning US Route 9W, the creek and Main Street, it replaced an iron structure dating from around 1883 when the route was opened by predecessor New York, West Shore and Buffalo.

I've been unable to find out its height or who it was designed and built by as well as when the second track was removed. If any of my followers have that information or more that they could share I'd be most grateful.

“Ed è qualcosa da cui non puoi scappare. Il mare... Ma soprattutto: il mare chiama... Non smette mai, ti entra dentro, ce l'hai addosso, è te che vuole... Puoi anche far finta di niente, ma non serve. Continuerà a chiamarti... Senza spiegare nulla, senza dirti dove, ci sarà sempre un mare, che ti chiamerà.” (Oceano mare- Baricco)

The character from the famous board game Monopoly, with his hat and cane. He took 8 hours to design on brick paper, and then about 25-30 hours to build. In this build I wanted him to look a little more human-like, rather than cartoon-ish. I was only able to find one image to work off of, which shows him in this pose. It was a lot fun to build!

Thanks for viewing! :-)

My friend Rich of 21 years passed away on Tuesday. We went to a lot of car shows over the years, listen to the bands, and talked about a lot of things. He knew his cars, and had a lot stories from the 60's when cruising the town was the thing to do on Friday night. He like to listen to Coast to Coast AM and was always interested in UFO topics This photo was taken in 2004 at the Brunswick, Ohio car show. Rich's health has been on the decline for years but he never let it stop him until this past year when everything was just too much to over come. Rest in peace my friend.

I decided to go out and shoot even though there was low light and possible rain. I used the built in flash for these and adjusted the intensity for effect. Each of these are as shot, no adjusting. 1 of 4

From my first hand developed roll of Tr-X, circa 1982. Cool old guy I met on the street, I'll never forget my time with him.

Kansas City Southern SD40-3 #612 leads a southbound train up Rich Mountain on a beautiful fall day in 1996. Although technically a SD40-3, #612 is an SD45 to me!

Wouldn't it be nice to be both? I added a couple of textures (photos of fabrics I had in my sewing room) .

Walking around Christchurch Priory our way from Winchester to Sidmouth where we are staying the night.

Christchurch Priory is an ecclesiastical parish and former priory church in Christchurch in the English county of Dorset (formerly in Hampshire). It is one of the longest parish churches in the country and is larger than 21 English Anglican Cathedrals.

The story of Christchurch Priory goes back to at least the middle of the 11th century, as Domesday says there was a priory of 24 secular canons here in the reign of Edward the Confessor. The Priory is on the site of an earlier church dating from 800AD. In 1094 a chief minister of William II, Ranulf Flambard, then Dean of Twynham, began the building of a church. Local legend has it that Flambard originally intended the church to be built on top of nearby St. Catherine's Hill but during the night all the building materials were mysteriously transported to the site of the present priory. Although in 1099 Flambard was appointed Bishop of Durham, work continued under his successors. A mid-12th century account recording the legend of the Christchurch Dragon indicates that by 1113 the new church was nearing completion under Dean Peter de Oglander. By about 1150 there was a basic Norman church consisting of a nave, a central tower and a quire extending eastwards from the crossing. It was during this period that another legend originated, that of the miraculous beam, which is thought to have brought about the change in the name of the town from Twynham to the present day Christchurch, but in fact the two names both featured in a grant dated AD 954 ('juxta opidum Twinam, id est, Cristescirce').
