Doki Doki is a responsive, emotive wearable. It was created as a speculative, modular garment that explores forms of nonverbal communication that could emerge in reaction to the changes we are facing to our usual rituals of social interaction during the covid pandemic.
The garment investigates how covert and overt data can be visualised together during social or other encounters to communicate information to observers about the wearer and their environment. The device uses pattern and colour in the form of four RGB LED bars to visualise data from sensors affixed to a bespoke neck corset. Firstly the garment functions as a binary clock, an example of how differing ways of presenting data, in this case time, can create covert or overt communication; emotive data in the form of the heart rate (via ear sensor) of the wearer responding to social and environmental interaction; and spatial data in the form of proximity detection (using infra red) and personal space. Combined, this data output contributes to the discussion of how and why we might advance the use of covert and overt data embodied as wearable technology, driven by physiological and environmental situations to aid us in social interaction during the pandemic and beyond.
This artifact explores a modular plug and play design ethos, which adds sustainability via sensors and actuators, that can interchanged and repurposed, according to the wearer’s bespoke needs, and aesthetics. The modular garment is made up of four separate boned corset pieces, using vintage corsetry methods, which allow for the wearer to fit the garment to their body and change its purpose and aesthetic as required.

Advancing Gender Responsive Rohingya Camp Governance_Cox's Bazar
This open dialogue event on 'Advancing Gender-responsive Camp Governance' was organized under the overall banner of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign,The Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) hosted the event, which brought together Camp-in-Charges across the camps in Cox's Bazar, officials of the RRRC, representatives from Women’s Rights Organizations and from UN agencies (including UN Women, UNFPA, and UNHCR), sector representatives and representatives of the GiHA Working Group and GBV-Sub-Sector. Discussions revolved around challenges confronted by women and girls in the camps and the important role of gender-responsive camp governance. Recommendations related to enhancing the safety and well-being of women and girls in the Rohingya camps were put forward and focused on the need to enhance coordination and communication.

Gender Responsive Journalism, Cox's Bazar, 2023
UN Women in collaboration with DW Akademie organized a training on 2 Batch gender responsive journalism workshop, attended by 32 participants (16 women, 16 men), representing various media platforms in Cox’s Bazar, including newspapers, radio, TV, and online news outlets. The training helped participants learn non-gender-biased language, producing positive narratives on gender equality issues, interactive discussions on the importance of gender representation in media, Strategies to enhance women's representation in media, focusing on solution-based news stories through constructive journalism and addressing sensitivity when interviewing survivors of gender-based violence and Ethical standards in reporting.
