Yes, hair can be transplanted from one area of the scalp to another. The transplanting of the hair is not the issue. It is having enough hair to redistribute to the bald/thinning areas. There are currently two widely used methods of harvesting the grafts. The older method, follicular unit strip surgery, involves cutting a strip of hair from around the sides and back of the head about 1/4" by 9" long. Then dissecting it into 1,2 and 3 hair grafts to transplant under a microscope. Of course the scalp in th area of th surgery has to be stapled together. The problem comes with tighter scalps limiting strip surgeries and limiting the number of grafts. Since the scalp is rejoined where the strip is extracted, the hair on the back/sides is as thick as ever and the transplanted top can never be as thick. The newer method is FUE(follicular unit extraction), also know as the wood's technique. The 1,2 and 3 hair transplants are removed individually over a large area of the back/sides, thinning the back/sides. There is no problem with scalp tightness limiting grafts. Also, less invasive as there is no cutting with scalpels involved and no stapling of the scalp together. Only a topical anesthetic is used. FUE tends to be more expensive than a strip surgery to harvest the grafts. There is a lot of information on the internet on both methods. The transplanting of the grafts is largely the same. It is the way the grafts are harvested that differs. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, an unlimited supply of grafts to transplant will be able to be grown in a lab.

Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
On May 21, 1838, Florida territorial delegate Charles Downing requested a lighthouse be built on Cape Canaveral. The first lighthouse completed in Jan. 1848 stood 65-feet tall, had a 55-foot tower and a 10-foot lantern room equipped with 15 lamps on 21-inch reflectors. The brick tower and keeper's home cost under $13,300. Nathaniel Scobie oversaw construction and appointed the first keeper.
With the advent of the Civil War, S. Mallory, Confederate Navy Secretary, ordered Florida east coast lighthouses “extinguished." Keeper Mills Burnham removed the lamp and buried it in his orange grove.
A state-of-the-art, 151 foot iron tower was erected in 1868 and topped with a 1st Order Fresnel lens. The tower's living quarters were used for storage and a weather station. In 1871 a storm surge washed over the lighthouse area spoiling lamp oil and drinking water. This and shoreline erosion caused the lighthouse to be moved. From Oct. 1893 to Jul. 1894 the tower was dismantled, moved by tram one mile inland and re-erected, along with a 1st and 2nd assistant's and keeper's homes, to its present location.
In 1939 the Coast Guard took ownership. In 2000 stewardship was moved. transferred to the 45th Space Wing, Patrick Air Force Base.

This is Johann's magnet playground. For three years now this fridge has been part of his shante school - spelling, math, animals. Often when Tammy is cooking in the kitchen and he can't help he'll work on making up math problems or spelling new words.
Many of the magnets came from frdges before that...some came all the way with us from Idaho and are nearly as old as he is. And yes, this is pretty much how it looks almost all the time.

Concerned citizens gathered to test a solar hot water heater to promote renewable energy as a solution to climate change and to urge politicians to pass clean energy policies.
On 10/10/10, there will be over 7,000 similar climate action events taking place in in 188 countries around the world as part of “The Global Work Party.” This synchronized international event is organized by 350.org, and is expected to be the largest day of climate action in history.
