3FM Serious Request draait dit jaar om meisjes en vrouwen die slachtoffer zijn van seksueel geweld in conflictgebieden. 3FM Serious Request 2014 vraagt aandacht voor een stille ramp die miljoenen vrouwen treft en beschadigt. 3FM-DJ’s Coen Swijnenberg, Gerard Ekdom en Domien Verschuuren in het Glazen Huis in Haarlem willen deze vrouwen een stem geven en zoveel mogelijk geld inzamelen voor het Rode Kruis, zodat zij opgevangen worden en een leven kunnen opbouwen. We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

I love getting requests like this. The lady emailed me back in July and requested a cake for her sisters birthday. Her sister is into Vampire, fantasy tattoo's and her interests are roses, skulls and graveyard art. I so hope I have hit the mark on this one. I loved making this cake. The hardest part was I knew I wanted to use red, white and black I just needed to pick a background colour to make the red pop out. So glad I used Lilac and purple.
Incidently after having this booking in the diary for 3 months, last night, the night before delivery the lady who ordered this and I discovered we are related. My mum and her dad are cousins. Such a small world.

De dj's zijn uitzinnig na het horen van het behaalde eindbedrag. 3FM Serious Request draait dit jaar om diarree. Jaarlijks overlijden er wereldwijd 800.000 kinderen aan de gevolgen van diarree en om dat aantal terug te dringen, zetten 3FM en het Rode Kruis zich van 18 t/m 24 december vanuit Leeuwarden in om zoveel mogelijk geld in te zamelen voor deze stille ramp. Wereldwijd zijn meer dan vier miljoen familieleden elkaar kwijt door een ramp of conflict. Het Rode Kruis herenigt deze mensen met hun geliefden. Check www.3fm.nl/seriousrequest.
Early in 1942, at the request of the British Air Ministry, the US Army 816th Engineer Aviation Battalion, built Gosfield Airfield, which was to become Station 154. It was to be a class "A" airfield, originally intended for the United States 8th Bomber Command where it would be linked with Earls Colne and Birch airfields under the control of the 4th Wing Headquarters at Marks Hall.
By the time it was completed the Eighth' Air Force no longer required the airfield and it was passed to the control of the US Ninth Air Force around December of 1943, who decided that the 365th Fighter Group would initially be based there. January 1944 saw the arrival of the first P-47D Thunderbolts.
For a period around April 1944 397th Bomber group also operated B 26
bombers from the site.
In April the 410th Bomber Group moved from their temporary home at Birch near Colchester to Gosfield. They operated A-20G and A-20J Havoc light twin engined bombers. The operations flown were planned in preparation for invasion of Normandy by attacking coastal defenses, airfields and V weapon sites in France and marshalling yards in France and Belgium.
The 410th Bomber Group flew their 100th mission on August 31, 1944.
By September the targets were almost beyond the range of the Havocs so the 410th moved to an airstrip in liberated France. The airfield was returned to the RAF and used by a Heavy Glider Servicing Unit.
Gosfield was also used by C-47 Dakota aircraft during the airborne crossing of the River Rhine.
The glider servicing unit continued to operate until the airfield was closed down during February, 1946.
At the request of a local art dealer, Modigliani painted some thirty female nudes in Paris. With their graceful lines and stylised forms they all resemble each other. Their elongated faces, pointed chins and almond-shaped eyes were inspired by objects produced by various African cultures. The exhibition of this series caused such a stir that the police had to remove the paintings.

This is an eBook design I just recently finished up for an eBook all about printing.
The design was made for Ron Martinsen of the popular photography blog www.ronmartblog.com/
Ron came to me wanting a design that looked like it had come right of the desk of old print masters desk right next to his Gutenberg press perhaps. Through a series of revisions and design ideas we came up with this final design for the cover and pages.
I then provided Ron with his custom Apple Pages template complete with many defined styles, drop in amigo placeholders, easily editable placeholder text, Table of Contents, table options and more.
I really enjoyed working with Ron on this project and also really enjoyed coming up with an refining the ideas for this book which I feel like ended up looking beautiful and unique. Hope you like it!
