On the face of it, a former National Express Caetano Levente-bodied Volvo or Scania. However, Williams Coaches of Brecon 299 DMW is one of only 20 Mercedes OC500RFs with Caetano CT650 bodywork in the UK.
She was new to a County Galway operator in 2012 as 12-G-3507, but was imported to the UK in 2014, and re-registered WO12 KBE. She then operated for five years for Moving People of Accrington before being acquired by Williams in 2019.
The advent of PSVAR has affected the specification of coaches used on Rail Replacement contracts, and therefore she has been Williams' regular choice on a longer term contract between Swansea and Shrewsbury over the currently closed Heart of Wales Line,
She is captured emerging from Orchard Street in Swansea in October 2020 when heading for Shrewsbury.
Seen in Dale Street,Liverpool City centre been used on rail replacement service for passengers with bikes.
Well, the long anticipated "Woking Weekender" finally arrived and delivered a magnificent array of vehicles operating rail replacement services out to Weybridge, Guildford, Aldershot and Basingstoke throughout both days. No less than 34 different operators provided in excess of 70 buses, coaches and minibuses across both days including three 75-plates. And Burrows Coaches had "both" their East Lancs Darts out - EDIT - STOP PRESS! On Saturday it was LK55ADX and on Sunday it was J8UFX - first with the news!!
Now then, Woking is not the photographer's friend at this time of year due to high-rise office blocks surrounding the station area. Saturday started wet, eased off but remained rather gloomy all day, and Sunday was almost a write-off with clear blue skies and low sun. The one sunny spot we found came with a time limit as a ruddy great big lamppost shadow edged its way into shot therefore limiting use of that corner. All in all though, it proved to be a belter!! Maybe have it in the Spring next time please Network Rail?

YMS Travel of Canterbury provided a number of vehicles for Rail Replacement duties. T 36 DFC AND IIG 3840 await duty at Hastings Railway Station.
Continuing the Rail Replacement theme, Lloyds Coaches of Machynlleth returned to providing the non-stop Cardiff to Bridgend service in place of Arriva Trains Wales and GWR services on 2nd January 2017, in the same way that the service was provided on 27th and 28th December 2016.
The company again provided two of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400-bodied Scanias that had been new to GHA Coaches for "Traws Cymru" Service T3 (Wrexham-Llangollen-Corwen-Bala-Dolgellau-Barmouth), and which Lloyds recently acquired from Ensignbus to continue the contract until a new lon-term contract is awarded.
SN15 ETD is captured at speed on the A4061 in Litchard heading for Bridgend, where she would connect with the onward GWR service to Swansea.
Over to Basingstoke today (Sun 04/05/2025) for a look at the rail replacements heading to Andover, Reading, Winchester and Woking. Around 15 departures an hour and a 3 hour turn around meant 45 different vehicles were seen.
It was down the A3 to Portsmouth & Southsea Station for some rail replacement action today (14/02/2026) with services running 3 times per hour from Portsmouth Harbour to both Barnham (Southern) and Petersfield (SWR) and back again.
As with my last visit here, the variety of bus liveries seen today was excellent with around 12 operators noted in the 3 hours we were present. Top picks today were Compass Travel's pair of 75-plate ADL E400 MMCs; 4 coaches from the BM/Mercian/Linburg fleets; and further E400 MMCs from Brighton & Hove, Tomorrows Travel, Wheelers Travel and Xelabus.
Another good morning and this time in some very rare sunshine!!
This is another picture from the large South West Trains rail replacement on Sunday 28th February 2016. Egham based Cardinal Buses' TA536 is seen heading away from Clapham Junction showing a proper blind to New Malden. Very professional!
This bus is an Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident that was formerly with Stagecoach London as its fleet number 17536. Its last appearance in normal London service was on route 69 on 27th February 2014. It certainly looks like it's passed to a company that is going to take care of it.

Another picture taken at the South Bank depot of Teesside Municipal Transport on 3 April 1971. This is Daimler Fleetline L503, one of a batch bought to replace the last of the trolleybuses, some of which can be seen dumped in the background.
Scanned from a Kodachrome slide taken by the late Charles Dean, now in my collection.
not sure if I ever did upload a picture of the first one but it was just like this, sadly I dropped it just the other day and it smashed but thankfully my sister surprised me today with replacement it was the last one so I am happy.
Kicking off 2026 was a trip to Basingstoke on Sunday 4th January to witness the rail replacement buses running to Andover, Farnborough, Reading, Winchester and Woking. With 11 departures every hour, something interesting was bound to turn up sooner or later. Being sufficiently west of London, Basingstoke is predominantly 'coach country' rather than say, east of Woking where it's almost all buses running the rail replacement services.
Today's delights were a pair VDL Futuras from Star Tours of Wembley, a JKT International Irizar, a pair of former Excelsior Plaxton Elites now sporting Damory branding, the Barnes '100 Years' coach which has now been repainted into full fleet livery, and a pair of Mayflower Scania deckers. It was good to see the Mayflower pair back on the road again after the devastating vandal attack that crippled the fleet back in November 2025.
In total, 36 buses and coaches from 20 different operators passed our cameras in our 3 hour visit with Aldermaston Coach Lines and Barnes providing 5 each.
I mentioned in my photograph "Disappearing Darts" that Stagecoach in South Wales has recently shuffled some of its fleet following new deliveries, and that Aberdare depot has lost its eight Transbus Pointer-bodied Darts in favour of a similar number of Alexander Dennis E20Ds from Porth depot.
36843 therefore represents the new allocation on Services 60 & 60A (Aberdare-Mountain Ash-Abercynon-Pontypridd) in this mid January 2018 shot as she passes beneath the low railway bridge in Abercynon which carries the Cynon Valley line.
I except it was a tight squeeze for National Welsh's Leyland Nationals, and no doubt explains why so few Bristol VRs were allocated to Aberdare depot.
I've got my brother's chin covered, just in case his chemotherapy wipes out the beard he grew before his brain surgery & radiation.
Although our mom rather wishes it would fall out.

City Circle provided several Scania Irizar coaches for today's rail replacement job between Three Bridges and Brighton. K410 I6s YN18 SVL carries CIE Tours livery. Sadly, with the advent of the new PSVAR for rail replacement services, luxury coaches like this will become rarer on such work although the Kings Ferry did have a number of quality coaches on today's job.
18th January 2020.

67801 showing "Abellio Rail Replacement" in the display although 69123 was showing "Scotrail Rail Replacement" and 62149 just "Not in service".
Don't recognise the driver, assume this one of the many drafted in from elsewhere in First.

Portsmouth & Southsea today (09/02/2025) to watch the rail replacement movements. Over 20 buses and coaches were utilised to run services between Portsmouth Harbour and Fareham (GWR), Havant (SWR) and Barnham (Southern). A lot of variety out today!
