Enviro 200 with Travelmasters on Rail Replacement at Tunbridge Wells. A bus I remember well when it was new as Jim Stone's B1 BUS.

Polregio's silver-red SM42-349 and one double decker coach leave Czersk on their way to Chojnice.

The SM42 is the last of its kind still running in the old Polregio livery. Soon, the locomotive will have to get a repair, which means changing the paint scheme. During the next summer season, it is not unlikely that we will get to see it in the new livery, running trains to Hel.

The train it was hauling was also quite a rarity. Normally, the only trains with a diesel locomotive and passenger coaches Polregio runs serve Chojnice - Gdynia - Hel connections, and consist of 4 or 5 wagons. For a few days, the Ostbahn line could live through a blast from the past with this little train of just one wagon.

At Brighton Station on railway replacement between Brighton and Three Bridges

EW I/II push-pull trains have become a rare sight on the swiss railway network nowadays. Only a few trainsets survived as reserve. On June 4th, after heavy rainfall around noon, the sun broke through the clouds just at the right time to enlight class Re 4/4 II locomotive 11122 with it's push-pull train. Passing Eschikofen with a Konstanz - Zürich HB service, this train serves as replacement for the regular EW-IV trainset which was used for special trains to the Gotthard base tunnel opening this weekend.

It is very unusual to have single deck buses on a double deck rail service. Due to a few late problems, two single deck buses were drafted in to cover. This shouldn't normally happen but this is better than having no bus! Willesden Junction DE1616 was used in the morning.

Functioning infrastructure seems to be slipping further and further down the list of priorities these days. Replacement is increasingly becoming the norm in a very often dysfunctional city. People try to adapt.

Two former Norfolk Southern GP38-2s rest at the Buckingham Branch yard in Doswell, sandwiching a GP16. Recently acquired from NS, these engines floated around in patched black paint for a while before mercifully being repainted in company colors. Their noses were chopped along the way, and today these engines are standard BB road power.

I broke our glass baked goods dome yesterday and ruined the newly baked bread inside. I've been using some different methods lately but figured Jim Lahey's no knead was a great replacement. The loaves are always so pretty.

My husband just went off for knee replacement. I will be very busy for abit.

The Bank Holidays over Christmas 2021 saw a large rail replacement bus operation covering services between Farnborough, Woking, Weybridge, Aldershot, Guildford and Basingstoke. As a result, a large number of vehicles were out and about and I snapped a few in Farnborough, Guildford and Woking.

Okay, I admit it. I'm really set in my ways and I'm no longer a big fan of change. Time marches on, and all that, but in my opinion, this bench wreaks of commercialism compared with the beautiful, old decorated concrete bench that used to be here. I used to call that bench, "Tigger's Bench", since it was where I took my favorite shot of Tigger which I called, "How Could You Leave Me?" Tigger would often get on that bench and turn his back to me when he knew I was leaving, and when I'd talk to him, he'd whip his tail in disapproval, sulking the whole time! Eventually, he didn't leave me anymore, as I adopted him and took him home to live with me, but when HE left me for good, I had the photo framed to always remember my Tigger.

No matter WHAT bench they put in its place, I would never have liked it. It does show that there are people in our community who are committed to keeping this park beautiful, though, and a friend of mine from high school, Ann Pinitiliano is named on this bench as one of them. I guess you can't give credit where credit is due on a concrete bench. At least this one won't be missed as much when it is replaced by another.

The original bench is in the first comment below.

I liked the idea of having a man as a scarecrow as in the tute, but I wanted the story to show how he got there...the real scarecrow having escaped his fate and gained his freedom by finding a human replacement....

Constructive criticism most gratefully received.

MTA Metro-North's West Of Hudson equipment is soon slated for replacement. I was told that come January, the MTA will release plans for their new fleet to replace the aging EMD locomotives. Operated and maintained by New Jersey Transit, these old rebuilt diesel locomotives are nearing their life expectancy of over 40/50 years. Pictured here is MNCW # 4901 pushing an eastbound through Tuxedo, New York.

It was down the A3 to Portsmouth & Southsea Station for some rail replacement action today (14/02/2026) with services running 3 times per hour from Portsmouth Harbour to both Barnham (Southern) and Petersfield (SWR) and back again.

As with my last visit here, the variety of bus liveries seen today was excellent with around 12 operators noted in the 3 hours we were present. Top picks today were Compass Travel's pair of 75-plate ADL E400 MMCs; 4 coaches from the BM/Mercian/Linburg fleets; and further E400 MMCs from Brighton & Hove, Tomorrows Travel, Wheelers Travel and Xelabus.

The future Pattullo bridge Fraser river crossing under construction. Aug. 10-2025.

Eventually all things must come to an end. After a long career of protecting movement at the east end of the Raritan River Bridge in Perth Amboy this old signal bridge has finally arrived at the end of its service life. With its replacements already in place at its side its only a matter of time until the new masts are cut over.

This veteran signal bridge at CP-RIVER is among the oldest signal structures on NJ Transit sharing its veteran status with only a handful of others on the system.

UPDATE 2016-04-09

The new signals were cut in over the weekend of 04/09-04/10. The PRR signal structure will remain intact as its supporting catenary but it will likely soon be stripped of all its signal heads.

It was back to Basingstoke today (12/01/2025) for another look at the rail replacement operation with an impressive 13 departures an hour. A bit of a Barnes-fest certainly added brightness to an otherwise grey day.

Due for route 468 is HV407, one of 33 new Volvo B5LH/Wright Gemini 3s.

Although the takeover is still over a month away, at least four of the batch have entered service on District Line replacement services, and HV407 is seen at the alighting point at Kensington Olympia.

Everything I need to know I got from watching Gilligan's Island.

If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway.

Reality is a figment of your imagination.

Life is just one of those things.

Why should I grow up? This is more fun!

I have crossed and recrossed the line between sanity and madness so many times that I have all but rubbed it out.

Reality is all a point of view. .....................

IT really has been one of those weeks.......................*************SIGH*************

Have a great Friday and weekend everyone.... (at least I remembered the day of the week....)

I've done quite well this week. I put the cornice up downstairs, and have completed the decorating upstairs, which means the interior is finished. Yay! And we have lights!!

Please excuse the unlit wall lamp in the front room, as would you believe it, the bulb blew as I was just about to take the photo. I'm waiting for replacements, as I was hoping they would have lasted more than 5 minutes, lol!

The next three pics are of items I've been working on for the interior :)
