EW I/II push-pull trains have become a rare sight on the swiss railway network nowadays. Only a few trainsets survived as reserve. On June 4th, after heavy rainfall around noon, the sun broke through the clouds just at the right time to enlight class Re 4/4 II locomotive 11122 with it's push-pull train. Passing Eschikofen with a Konstanz - Zürich HB service, this train serves as replacement for the regular EW-IV trainset which was used for special trains to the Gotthard base tunnel opening this weekend.

Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn. It's not unusual to see rows and rows of matching military tombstones at a national cemetery, but Green-Wood isn't one. These are replacement tombstones, waiting for relocation: Green-Wood took stock of the military tombstones on its grounds, noted their erosion over the years, and ordered replacements.

Please tell me your opinion: - do we really need such cheating in photography.
I suppose it is a personal matter - whether you want 'documentary' or 'art'. But do not make a nuisance of it, like I have already seen in Flickr daylight images with Milky Way sky! :(
Metroline DEL1977 (YX12AYK) working WJ947 on the Northern Line rail replacement service, approaches York Way at King's Cross to load up on a trip to Archway and Finchley Central.
It is very unusual to have single deck buses on a double deck rail service. Due to a few late problems, two single deck buses were drafted in to cover. This shouldn't normally happen but this is better than having no bus! Willesden Junction DE1616 was used in the morning.

Seen entering the village of Bere Ferrers on Rail Replacement is Oakleys Pointer Dart KN52NFU. This was a surprise to see as I thought First Kernow was providing the Rail Replacement for the line.
This rail replacement goes to show how vital that rail link is, 70 minutes and 37km's later the bus arrived into Plymouth, a journey which takes 20 minutes by train.
Helping out with Rail Replacement duties last weekend with GWR carrying out maintenance to the line between Truro & Penzance, First Kernow's 20324 S20FTR (YN57BVX) with tinner MMC 33450 WK66CCA just behind. 20324 is a recent arriving to First Kernow's 'Truronian' coach fleet having seen service previously with First Cymru.
I broke our glass baked goods dome yesterday and ruined the newly baked bread inside. I've been using some different methods lately but figured Jim Lahey's no knead was a great replacement. The loaves are always so pretty.
Okay, I admit it. I'm really set in my ways and I'm no longer a big fan of change. Time marches on, and all that, but in my opinion, this bench wreaks of commercialism compared with the beautiful, old decorated concrete bench that used to be here. I used to call that bench, "Tigger's Bench", since it was where I took my favorite shot of Tigger which I called, "How Could You Leave Me?" Tigger would often get on that bench and turn his back to me when he knew I was leaving, and when I'd talk to him, he'd whip his tail in disapproval, sulking the whole time! Eventually, he didn't leave me anymore, as I adopted him and took him home to live with me, but when HE left me for good, I had the photo framed to always remember my Tigger.
No matter WHAT bench they put in its place, I would never have liked it. It does show that there are people in our community who are committed to keeping this park beautiful, though, and a friend of mine from high school, Ann Pinitiliano is named on this bench as one of them. I guess you can't give credit where credit is due on a concrete bench. At least this one won't be missed as much when it is replaced by another.
The original bench is in the first comment below.

When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might take my place
When I wake up, I'm afraid
Somebody else might end up being me
The thing is I honestly don't think taping myself to a tree in a forest and taking pictures is the weirdest thing I've ever done.
But ugh that song gets to me, man. Hits me right in the gut, it does. I mean, I think we all have this real intense fear of waking up one day only to realize there's a better version of you out there taking all the glory, if you will. At least I do, honestly. Like. Obviously there's not some robot Rachel wandering around being perfect, but you know. It's just one of those dumb unnecessary paranoia deals.
Anyways, thank you to everyone who's already entered the print giveaway!! You guys rock and I hope your Tuesdays have been rad :)

MTA Metro-North's West Of Hudson equipment is soon slated for replacement. I was told that come January, the MTA will release plans for their new fleet to replace the aging EMD locomotives. Operated and maintained by New Jersey Transit, these old rebuilt diesel locomotives are nearing their life expectancy of over 40/50 years. Pictured here is MNCW # 4901 pushing an eastbound through Tuxedo, New York.

I liked the idea of having a man as a scarecrow as in the tute, but I wanted the story to show how he got there...the real scarecrow having escaped his fate and gained his freedom by finding a human replacement....
Constructive criticism most gratefully received.

There was certainly a good variety of vehicles running through Basingstoke on rail replacement duties today (Good Friday 2023). The sun made an appearance which was good to see as well!
A very wet July day at Bildeston sees Go Start Community Transport very Smart Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Bluetec EVM RA66 WCK, waiting to work the Tue/Thus only service to Sudbury. The Bank Holidays over Christmas 2021 saw a large rail replacement bus operation covering services between Farnborough, Woking, Weybridge, Aldershot, Guildford and Basingstoke. As a result, a large number of vehicles were out and about and I snapped a few in Farnborough, Guildford and Woking.
On New Year's Day 2017, First West of England provided three new blue-fronted Alexander Dennis E40D MMCs for the Rail Replacement non-stop service between Cardiff Central and Bridgend in place of Arriva Trains Wales and GWR services.
Representing these, 33795 is captured in a wet Bridgend, turning from Derwen Road on to Boulevard de Villenave D'Ornon (the Inner By-Pass in old money) when setting off on another trip to Cardiff.
