Thanksgiving 2012. Mom looks on as someone serves up a helping of mashed potatoes from her #444 Butterprint bowl. She received this bowl with the set in 1958. The other Butterprint in this picture are replacements, the complete story is below:
* Our family's Pyrex story began in 1958 when our Mom received the 4-piece Pyrex Cinderella Butterprint mixing bowl set as a bridal shower gift. By the late sixties there was only one piece remaining - the largest, white on turquoise 4-quart #444 bowl. It would be the only piece of family Pyrex for the next 30 years or so.
* During the seventies, eighties and nineties the old bowl was primarily used by Mom to prepare and serve her famous mashed potatoes. We referred to the bowl as "the mashed potato bowl".
* In 1999 Mom's original #444 bowl became part of a complete set again. I was already using eBay then and thought it would be cute to get the other three bowls for Mom so she would have the complete set again. Pyrex on eBay was much cheaper then!
* Since then we've accumulated additional Butterprint; the non-cinderella mixing bowl set and several pieces of the casserole and refrigerator sets. I've gone outside the Butterprint pattern twice for promotional Cinderella bowls; the 1959 'Golden Scroll' Chip and Dip set, and the green Merry Christmas and Happy New Year #443 bowl.
* We don't really 'collect' Pyrex, we just sort of 'accumulate' it. We only acquire it to use it, and use it we do, including the one that started it all, that original #444 that's been in the family since 1958, and still serving up Mom's famous mashed potatoes - for over 50 years and now to a fourth generation!!!
Stagecoach Lincoln based Solo 47399 YM55 SVL stands at Kirkby in Ashfield railway station on 17-02-13 awaiting connection with the Robin Hood Line train from Mansfield Woodhouse, the bus will then operate via Newstead, Hucknall, Bulwell, to Nottingham as a rail replacement service.
Finally after much hunting and searching I have got some replacements for my favourite trainers. The originals stared earlier in the 365 and not long after that got filled with petrol when the nozzle didn't click off in the petrol station. Ever since then I have been on the look out for a pair. Then finally Lisa found them... She is now kicking herself because instead of keeping it to herself and getting me them for Christmas, in her excitement in finding them she blurted it out and so ruined the surprise.

From left to right are JFZ 8619, TT17 GER and BLZ 1424. The Stagecoach one is 53033 and appears to have been brought out of (or used as part of) the training fleet with signs that L plates have been removed from the front.
Other vehicles including another coach and an MCW Metrobus have carried the BLZ 1424 plates.
The regular vehicle windows... I never knew you could put glass behind them haha... how silly is that...
Well, the long anticipated "Woking Weekender" finally arrived and delivered a magnificent array of vehicles operating rail replacement services out to Weybridge, Guildford, Aldershot and Basingstoke throughout both days. No less than 34 different operators provided in excess of 70 buses, coaches and minibuses across both days including three 75-plates. And Burrows Coaches had "both" their East Lancs Darts out - EDIT - STOP PRESS! On Saturday it was LK55ADX and on Sunday it was J8UFX - first with the news!!
Now then, Woking is not the photographer's friend at this time of year due to high-rise office blocks surrounding the station area. Saturday started wet, eased off but remained rather gloomy all day, and Sunday was almost a write-off with clear blue skies and low sun. The one sunny spot we found came with a time limit as a ruddy great big lamppost shadow edged its way into shot therefore limiting use of that corner. All in all though, it proved to be a belter!! Maybe have it in the Spring next time please Network Rail?

I found a replacement for the sweater with the holey armpit. It’s not a sweater. In fact, it isn’t a top at all. I also didn’t thrift it, despite your encouragement, but it was on clearance on Target, so it was thrift-y. It’s not super practical, but I can think of lots of ways to remix it. Meet the replacement: a ruffled, leopard, miniskirt.

RATP London United Dart DPS716 is seen on Monday 28th December departing the East Car Park at Slough Station, which had been commandeered as a makeshift bus station and temporary bus park. It is about to take up a service to Maidenhead - although trains were operating over this section they were routed over the fast lines and were unable to serve Burnham and Taplow. This service was nominally separate, but in practice was worked as an extension of the Slough-Ealing Broadway service with buses and coaches laying over at Slough for several minutes.

On Sunday 27th and Monday 28th December 2015 the railway was completely closed between Slough and London Paddington to allow various Crossrail-related works to take place.
Long-distance services were curtailed at Reading or diverted into London Paddington and London Marylebone, whilst a limited half-hourly shuttle train service was operated between Reading and Slough. A half-hourly rail replacement bus service operated between Slough and Ealing Broadway, using RATP London United Darts, Enviro200s and Optare Versas supplemented by coaches from a number of local operators - the route was single-decked because of the low bridge at Langley Station (this was supplemented by additional 'shorts' between Hayes & Harlington and Ealing Broadway, some of which were double-decked). A half-hourly service was also operated between Slough and Maidenhead to serve Burnham and Taplow, which could not be served by trains. This was nominally a separate service but was worked in practice as an extension of the Slough-Ealing Broadway service with buses pausing at Slough for several minutes.
An alternative service was provided between Slough and Hillingdon Underground non-stop for Metropolitan Line connections to Baker Street; this also ran half-hourly this was operated by First Berkshire using Tridents and a Green Line Volvo.
As well as the dedicated rail replacement buses rail tickets were widely accepted on alternative rail, Underground and bus routes in Slough and West London, and the 81 in particular was carrying good loads between Slough and Hounslow West.
For completeness, on both days Reading Buses and Horseman Coaches also operated rail replacement buses between Maidenhead and Marlow, extended to High Wycombe to connect with Chiltern Railways services to and from London Marylebone.

10 years went by, my older brother came back. But no longer a brother. A Warrior, he acted tough, he was tough, and didn't even flinch anymore. He came not just with strength and courage but with bad news saying that for 10 years dad was dead. He said before he left he knew, just didn't have the guts to say in front of his 8 year old younger brother. So instead he waits until I'm eighteen. As if that will solve anything anymore. But instead of raging on my older brother I acted tuff about it. Oh and by the way this tuff means cool. Back then me and my brother said it all the time. Anyways back to the story. He was surprised we still had a house but even more. I had gained a lot of wealth since he left. Wasn't a surprise for me since I graduated when I was fifteen. He again left two days later from a call that the covenant had stolen a new technological vehicle called a scorpion or something like that. Anyways, he said that I needed to get ready to go, because he said The UNSC needed me for there spartan program or something along those lines. I was always fond of the idea fighting with the UNSC. But never actually figure I would join it. But in that time I found something I never though would be here......
After nearly two years, construction of a replacement Whataburger restaurant is getting underway. The Whataburger building that previously occupied this site was severely damaged by a tornado on August 6, 2017 and was demolished on August 15, 2017. The restaurant was open and serving customers at the time that the tornado hit. The twenty-story building in the left background, Remington Tower, was also seriously damaged. Unfit for occupancy, its future is uncertain. Meanwhile, it stands tall as an eyesore and an example of what can happen when a tornado hits a high-rise.
The Whataburger building that previously stood here started out as a Burger Chef. When it was converted to Whataburger, an A-frame was added to give the building a signature Whataburger appearance.
UPDATE: The replacement Whataburger opened on this site at 3:00 PM on July 29, 2019. At the time of opening, it became the largest Whataburger in Oklahoma.

I don't usually show pictures of house plants, but I am so pleased with this Peace Lily that replaces one that died when I forgot to tell anyone to water my plants when I was having my hip replacement.
You know how it is with these plants after bringing them home after purchase - they'll have a number of white spathes that last a while. They die down and no others grow for months.
This one had 3 spathes (flowers) which still look good when I got it and 4 others (still small) have shown up. Gotta take care of this baby!

For clarification: the competition was ONLY for the memorial, not for the replacement of the towers. The 'pink' crystaline structures around the edge were part of Daniel Liebeskinds original design. He dictated that the open pit was the area for the memorial.
My contribution is only the cable-veil with the names and everything below it.

One of the most precious commodities which New York City has, and which is being offered by the builders of the World Trade Center for this memorial, is open space. Could this space remain just that?-- space that cannot be occupied by buildings or pedestrians, free from the pressure and pace of everyday life in New York City, an oasis of stillness and peace? I would like to give the victims of the February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks their own plaza, at street level, which would always be empty and could never be trod upon by another person, symbolizing both the vacancy caused by the victims’ suddenly ended lives and the immediate and lasting precariousness the attacks created for America and the world.
The new Plaza is formed by closely spaced thin cables that span the entire memorial site--with the exception of the two World Trade Center tower footprints--starting at the edge of and continuing the plane of the sidewalk which surrounds it. Together with sunken areas on the lower level, the towers’ earlier envelopes are recalled in three-dimensional forms created by defined voids, and free from any built vertical elements.
The names of all of the victims are formed by individual 6-inch letters of aluminum or carbon, threaded between the cables and grouped together alphabetically, according to the year and place of their deaths. The letters are hung horizontally, facing down, so that they can only be read from below.
Approaching the memorial, the viewer will see only a large, empty, unoccupied plaza at street level, the cables and the names forming a relatively closed plane when viewed from a distance. As the viewer moves closer to the site and around it, the plane becomes more transparent as the angle of view becomes more vertical, and the lower level becomes more visible. For the viewer who remains at plaza level, the groups of names are purely a simple graphic symbol, emphasizing the total loss of life from the attacks. As the viewer walks down a ramp, however, the single names begin to become visible, now emerging out of the groups, emphasizing the individual loss of life.
The individual names can only be viewed by looking up --an act that was common here especially before and during the attacks, and the city can now only be seen through this veil of names. They are omnipresent. Each section of building, cloud, and tree is embossed with names. The way one sees the world has changed because these people died.
This diaphanous veil of names also allows visitors to the lower memorial area to be alone with their thoughts, offering as it does a protective screen, subtly separating the viewers at street-level from those below.
The impact which the memorial exerts on the viewer thus deepens, moving from a sense of corporate loss to include individual human grief as well, as the viewer physically descends into the space once occupied by the lower levels of the World Trade Center towers, now laid open to the sky.
On the lower level is a large bas-relief map of the world, our common home. This map speaks of our essential oneness, and of the sense of responsibility to the entire world which must underlie our daily actions. It is also a teaching tool, both showing visitors the 92 countries from which the victims came, and documenting the political boundaries existing at the time of the attacks. The map is bronze, and these 92 countries are distinguished by a different surface treatment. Visitors can walk over the map and place flowers, pictures and other mementoes on the places of the world where the victims originated. Over time, these places will become polished and worn, a change testifying to their uniqueness. As the boundaries of the map are slightly raised, visitors can sit along the edges. The orientation of the map corresponds to the true compass points. The names are also on this true east-west axis, so that while reading the names one looks due north, and not into the sun.
The relationship between the world map and the names overhead is complex. The tension under which the attacks put the world, as well as the shadow which was cast over the life which we knew, are literally translated by the tensioned cables above and the names that cast a shadow on the world below. The cables themselves are anchored into the sidewalk level upon which the viewers at street level stand, stressing the role of the city in upholding the memory and honor of those who died and helped. The living city thus forms the foundation for the memorial.
The lower memorial area is variously raised approximately 3-6 feet above the concrete pad to allow for plantings and different surface treatments. The footprints of the two towers are outlined by linear pools of water, an element symbolizing life and renewal. One crosses the pools into the interior space of the footprints via flat bridges or by walking over the areas of the map which extend into the southern footprint. These points can be utilized for a controlled access, when deemed necessary. Located in the northern footprint is a mausoleum within a sunken area which one reaches via a series of descending stepped levels, or along a pair of ramps bordered by 7 winter-hardy almond trees (Prunus dulcis). Almond trees are the first trees to bloom after winter, symbolizing vigilance and giving hope. The mausoleum opens on to a larger, secluded area where ceremonies can be held. The elliptical form of the mausoleum is a universal symbol of fall and renewal. Visitors can go here to be alone, protected from the weather by the building above, and shielded by wall planes from other visitors as well as pedestrians on the sidewalk above or underground passageway adjourning.
The Liberty Wall is covered by a variety of climbing plants which bloom at various times in the year (clematis, honeysuckle, roses, wisteria) and whose color changes brilliantly in the fall (Virginia Creeper). During the winter, the vines will be bare, showing the cycle of life, and encouraging one to look towards the future.
The primary floor in the lower memorial area is made of parallel rows of locally quarried cut slate, a beautiful, noble, sedimentary material that was once plant life, whereas the floors of the footprints consist of crushed slate.
The individual cables, running parallel to each other over a length of maximum 350’, are pre-stressed to a very high degree such that the sag due to their dead-weight and the weight of the letters is minimized to less than 15’’. The letters are supported by the two neighboring cables.
The cables are preferably stressed from one end, either by a turnbuckle or hydraulic jack, which guarantees that forces and geometry of the cables can be exactly installed. The cables should be designed so that they will be nearly maintenance-free; therefore the cross-section will be built of stainless steel, alternatively of carbon, aramid or any other high-strength synthetic fibers. The technically required minimum cable diameter will be only in the order of 3/8’’ to 7/16’’.
Along the edges of the footprints, the cable forces are collected by filigree steel trusses in order to keep the interior area ‘open’. Only a few thicker cables, arranged in a rectangular grid of 20’ by 20’ inside the trusses, balance the collected forces between the outlying footprint edges.
This memorial remembers all of the victims of the terrorist attacks equally. At the same time, it recognizes the varying perspectives of those who will visit the memorial, and seeks to respond to their different needs. The remembrance of those who died, and of these tragic events, becomes an impetus, as visitors move freely across the map’s national boundaries, to embrace our one humanity, to draw comfort and strength from widely shared symbols of renewal, and, again and again, to look up, in a universal act of longing and hope.

First allocated a batch of 2004 B7RLE/Wright Eclipes to the X39 Bath to Bristol service. Due for replacement in 2009, they were then retained with 66728 WX54XCN showing the revised livery that was adopted.
By 2013, new fleet had been ordered and a batch of 11 Wright Streetlite Maxes were due so this (slightly less than sharp) shot on 13th July 2013 was a late example. 66728 has spent time in Bristol and Bath subsequently but still retained Barbie colours into 2020. This was taken at Newbridge on the edge of Bath.
